The Dot-Line Corp. White Balance Lens Cap is great for use with digital cameras. Just place the White Balance Lens Cap, point your camera at a subject area, and the incoming light is diffused to create an average white balance for a particular scene. (Check camera manufacturer's manual for setting white balance.). The White Balance Lens Cap easily slips on to the front of any appropriately sized lens, or a lens with a protective filter. Even if your lens has a bayonet mount on the outside, simply use the adapter provided. The lens cap comes with a handy loop to connect it to a camera strap or strap lug so you don't lose the cap.

Other reviewers seem to find these inexpensive caps to be an acceptable alternative to the expodisc. I do not own the expodisc but I can tell you that these do not give a proper result for incandescant lighting when I compare to using an 18% grey card or even a white card. For me these consistently gave results that were too cool (whites were too blue) in color temperature.
Dont waste your time with these. I have a grey / white / black card set that are small in size, on a lanyard, to put around my neck. You hold those up to the lens and do the white balance reference shot. The small size of those works perfect when held close to the lens in the lighting by your subject. Just about as convenient as a white balance cap would be IMHO. Fortunately B&H stood behind them 100%. If all products were as good as B&H one would never have a problem with anything.

Comments about Dot Line 72mm White Balance Lens Cap:
Plastic threads stripped out the first time I tried to mount this cap. Protruding plastic [*]means you can't use this cap inside a rubber lens hood. More or less useless. Spend more, buy the other one.

It is very simple and easy to use, just pop it on your lens snap a picture and ta-da custom white balance. It's cheap, light weight, easy to store. Only downfall doesn't come with a little pouch to store it in.

It gets WB very close on those inside shots where each room has a different lighting set up.

Choosing a White Balance is very easy, just make a shoot of the light through it.

Comments about Dot Line 72mm White Balance Lens Cap:
The cap is a good quality for low-cost, however after much testing, the results are much cooler than with an 18% gray card. I was forced to use auto WB on the job when I had it with me because of the unfavorable results I received.
You could however use it for a good reference and shift all photos the same interval warmer post-production.

Works as advertised. No reason to spend any more. If build was a little more robust, I would have given five stars.

Overall, it is a nice thing to have, but if you have a matte box on the camera, you can't really use this thing, because it doesn't attach to the lens.
