Comments about Canon DC-50 DVD Camcorder:
I was looking for a camcorder for home video use, and I couldn 't be happier. Takes good looking photos, great video. Quality goes down a bit under low light conditions, try finding one for under a $1000 that doesn't. If you are considering this camera, move it to the top of your list.

Comments about Canon DC-50 DVD Camcorder:
We are using it to record home movies. The one thing that I like about it is that it is simple to use. I fired it up right away and was able to navigate around it without looking at the manual. One thing that isn't so great is the small hand strap. I wouldn't want to drop my expensive camera and it feels a little insecure.

Comments about Canon DC-50 DVD Camcorder:
Takes great movies and still pictures(still pictures are 5MP quality too) Computer software a little difficult to use at first. But play around with it about 10 minutes and you should be fine. Menus are very similar to other canon products I have used. If you have small hands, holding the camcorder may be a little difficult due to the strap placement. Even with a few minor setbacks, this is a wonderful camera and lives up to the Canon name and quality promise.

Comments about Canon DC-50 DVD Camcorder:
The Canon is very good and is well built. I will say the controls and adjustments could be layed out in a more user friendly format. Typical of Canon, the product is good quality, but the manual can be difficult to understand and apply the stated instructions; it has a long learning curve. [...]Before the Canon I tried the Hitachi DZGx5080A and sent it back; very poor quailty video with too many disc errors. I wanted the DVD format and the reason I went with the DVD format is ease of use; didn't want to mess around with computer transfer or editing. With the DVD I can just pop the disc into my player and enjoy. Yes I know the recording time is a bit limited, but for my type of filming the thirty minute recording time is fine. After the Hitachi,I did a lot of research and decided the the Canon was the right one for me. I was seriously looking at the Sony DVD 408, what tipped the scale toward Canon was the warrenty; one year on parts and "Labor", the others are only 90 days on labor. The bottom line for me on this camcorder is the great video quailty and surprizeingly the still quailty is impressive too. Overall I'm quite pleased with my selection.
