Comments about Panasonic VDR-D50 Standard Definition DVD Camcorder:
I would recommend this product if someone is trying to upgrade to DVD for less than $200. I got a good deal for [$]. It is easy to operate this camcorder and its very compact. The only problem is we should manually open the lens and should remember to close it after using, else the lens would be spoiled. Otherwise great buy for the price(in DVD category)

This is a great camcorder for the price. Buy a back-up battery since the battery recording time is about 50-60 minutes.

Comments about Panasonic VDR-D50 Standard Definition DVD Camcorder:
This is a bare bones camcorder, it has what you need and not much more, but it does the job. We purchased it in order to capture the special moments in our kids lives and I would say it does a good job of it. The DVD feature is also very nice in that you can watch these special moments on your DVD player or computer and it makes sharing easy too. We just burn a copy of the film onto another DVD and send them to grandparents on the other coast. Easy to use, very simple, but worth it.

Comments about Panasonic VDR-D50 Standard Definition DVD Camcorder:
The 42X zoom is awesome. I can bring things in almost as good as my binoculars. Great for outdoors. Night feature is not the best feature though. Camera and subjects need to be too still.
The thumb joystick operation is a cool feature but is not the most ergonomical placement of the tool. Overall -- for the price this is the right equipment.
