The Sanyo PLC-XW55A projector is equipped with classroom and business friendly features. The short throw projection lens is perfect for small rooms. This three panel LCD projector has true XGA resolution and 2000 ANSI Lumens of brightness for crisp and clear presentations.
The light output from this projector can either fill a big screen or light up a dark blackboard. Sanyo's Blackboard Mode automatically adjusts the image's white balance and gamma to project an image on just about any surface. The variable audio out is a convenient feature that allows the user to control the audio level right from the projector. This centralization of video and audio controls help in educational applications by ensuring the technical quality of the presentation and eliminating the fuss of separating outside audio controls.

I will admit that I bought this projector purely on price. After much searching and comparing, hands down B&H had the best deal[...] I have had the projector for about 6 weeks now and have used it for 3 presentations and numerous hours of big screen gaming and movie viewing. The presentations were done in a well lit room using a 5 foot screen and the picture was clear and bright. For fun I projected a picture on the side of the house creating a 15 FOOT image that was still very clear. I intend on using the projector only with my laptop so the limited inputs are not an issue. The only negative comment I have is that the built in speaker is totally useless. It's awful. Everything else is very good and has met my expectations. I have convinced a couple other people to buy this projector based on my experience with it and with B&H.

This projector works great for me. I use it for a simple home theater system. It is not the best quality, but it sure looks nice for how much it costs.
Also it is bright enough to see it during the day.

Comments about Sanyo PLC-XW55A LCD Projector:
My roommates and I just recently bought this projector to use as our TV. We were excited that it had HD capabilities for only [$]. The only draw back is that to obtain HD signal, you must have cables to convert the HD signal into a vga input for the projector. And likewise, if you wanted to use an S-video connection, you must have a cable that has S-video on one end and vga on the other. Other than those misleading product specifications, this projector is amazing.

I bought this to project a notebook PC onto a whiteboard I have set up for homeschooling in our dining room/classroom. I wanted one with a low cost, yet bright enough to use during the daytime. The unit arrived and I had it out of the box, connected to the PC, and projecting in no time. The picture quality is nice and bright and sharp. The unit itself is attractive. And, I was glad to see it came with a cable that connected directly to my PC. One other thing: I had to phone their customer support because after hooking the unit to another notebook PC, it no longer worked with our other notebook PC. The support guy resolved the problem in minutes: I justed needed to "toggle" the PC's output using the Fn and F7 keys on the computer.

Bought 3 of these for our church. They are used primarily outdoors, mostly by "non-technical" people. Simple, easy to setup. The "power off and go" is a great feature. Probably the best part is the great price -- can't beat it for a 2k lumen LCD projector. Would have liked to have seen two improvements: (1) housing is plastic, would have like to have seen a metal housing, and (2) it would have been MUCH better if a carrying case was included.

I am using the product to help us supplement our instructional programs at school. I had originally purchased and hung tvs, but they limited the viewing for a whole class. These projectors bring to life learning in the classroom.

Comments about Sanyo PLC-XW55A LCD Projector:
This projector is wonderful for teaching in a classroom, conducting a business presentation, or meeting other needs. I have used it to conduct several training sessions in various size rooms and the projector gives a clear picture every time. I am not a tech savvy person but it is so easy to set-up and break-down. It's pretty portable also.
