QVidium QVSDI-11-IP SDI MPEG2+4 IP Codec

The Controlware, Inc. QVidium QVSDI-11-IP distinguishes itself as being one of the first converter devices on the market that can serve both as a video encoder and decoder unit. It is also one of the first IP converters equipped with an SDI connector in addition to standard BNC video ports. Video facilities containing professional camera and recording equipment can now use a single device to send and receive broadcast quality video and audio over the Internet. Powerful error correction tools are in place to ensure trouble free data transmissions from start to finish.

Key Features

• Simultaneous Encoding & Decoding: By manipulating settings on an easy-to-use web interface, this converter can be configured to act either as an encoder or decoder, or both. As an encoder unit, it will accept video signals coming from any NTSC or PAL device connected to its SDI or analog video ports and convert them using either the MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 video compression schemes. As a decoder unit, it will accept any ProMPEG, RTP/IP or UDP/IP encapsulated MPEG-2 video transport stream and convert it into a standard video output signal for connection to conventional video equipment. ¹

• MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 Compression: Video can be captured using either the MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 compression schemes. This gives a user better control over how data is distributed over a network. For example, a user can choose the lower resolution but faster MPEG-4 mode to view live video feeds, and the slower but higher quality MPEG-2 mode when sending video to a recorder over the network.

• ARQ Error Correction: By employing QVidium's robust, patent pending ARQ error correction as well as the latest industry-standard Pro-MPEG Forum Forward Error Correction, this converter is able to maintain reliable data transmission even when confronted by a packet loss, a network traffic jam and similar IP difficulties.
