The QVidium QV1394-1001-IP distinguishes itself as being one of the first IP encoders on the market with support for high definition video. Broadcast video facilities containing the latest HD cameras and recorders can now transmit HD video and audio over the Internet in their original pristine digital form without having to down convert to standard definition. A 6-pin FireWire port provides a single fast and easy interface for both video and audio from the camera or recorder. When using this encoder together with a QVidium decoder at the receiving end, HD video can be distributed virtually across the world over a network without any degradation in image quality. Powerful IP protocols and encryption tools are in place to ensure reliable and safe data delivery through the entire transmission process.

Key Features

• HD (High Definition) IP Encoder: A single 6-pin FireWire port, carrying both video and audio, acts as the interface between the HD camera or recorder to this encoder. Once connected, this unit will automatically recognize the specific type of HD signal feed.

Captures compressed video via SerialBus IEEE Std. 1394 (FireWire) in the following formats:

19.75 Mbps 720p MPEG-2 TS (JVC)
25 Mbps 1080i MPEG-2 TS (Sony, Canon)
116 Mbps DVCProHD (Panasonic)

Converts MPEG-2 video or MPEG2-TS stream to be interoperable within broadcast environments:

Converts JVC video output from 720/30p to 720/60p
Converts Sony MPEG2-TS output from variable bit rate (VBR) to constant bit rate (CBR)
Conversions do not re-encode original MPEG-2 video stream

• MPEG-2 Compression: Video is encoded in the MPEG-2 format, the same compression technology used in making DVDs. With its inherent ability to generate excellent image quality while keeping file sizes to a minimum, MPEG-2 is supremely well suited as a compression method for video IP encoders.

• ARQ Error Correction: Through the use of QVidium's robust, patent pending ARQ error correction as well as the latest industry-standard Pro-MPEG Forum Forward Error Correction, this encoder is able to handle the reliable data transmission even when confronted by a packet loss, a network traffic jam and similar IP difficulties.
