Cavision MB4512-H2 4x5.65 Hard Shade 16x9 Matte Box
The Cavision MB4512-H2 is a wide 16x9 Hard Shade Matte Box. Matte boxes control light better than a regular lens shade and offer the videographer the ability to use high quality 4x4 and 4x5.65 glass filters for image effects.

- Wide Hard Shade
- The wide hard shade used with this matte box system allows 16:9 aspect ratios and will accept 4x5.65 and 4x4 filters.
- 4x4 and 4x5.65 Filters
- 4x4 Glass Filters can be used with one stationary holder and one rotating for polarizers and gradient filters. This unit will accept wider 4x5.65 filters for 16:9 aspect ratios and HDTV.

[...] we today received the 4x5.65 matt box, French flags and side flags.Our impression is that sloppy design and workmanship define this product.The matt box is the best of the lot. The filter stages and box itself are fairly well made of heavy plastic. However, the side mounting holes for the side flags were only taped through on 4 of the 8 holes. We are now considering if we should tap them, or return the side flags. [...] Also, the mounting system is exceptionally flimsy. The mounting hinges are not well secured. The design is simply skimpy and poorly engineeredThe French top flag does not mate well with the lock on the matt box. The hinges are fine.We purchased this primarily as a light-control system. It will probably work satisfactory for that. Nevertheless Cavision needs to revisit their quality control and product design.

The filter stages and trays are actually made of aluminum, the front portion (hood) is made of hard ABS plastic.
As for the side french flags, the holes need to be drilled out to attach the side flags. We do not drill out the holes when the matte box is purchased through resellers because we do not know if the customer intends on using side flags. If we do drill them out and the customer has no intentions of using side flags, they then have mounting holes on the side of the hood.
