The Seculine Twin-1 R3 TRC Wired or Wireless Shutter Release is intended for Canon DSLR cameras that are not equipped with a built in infrared remote release system. It is also compatible with all Canon EOS SLR film cameras.
The remote system includes a transmitter and a receiver packaged together which connect directly into the camera's own shutter release port. It allows the user to trigger the shutter from both in front and from behind the camera. The Twin-1 remote system also includes a cable for wired release, particularly useful when taking pictures using the Bulb exposure setting. Plus, the remote sender also has a built in bright white LED to assist you when shooting in low light situations, and can also be used as a flashlight.
The Seculine Twin-1 R3 Remote is able to trigger your camera's shutter from up to 300' (approx. 100 m) away with the added capability to operate a delayed shutter release, and also supports half shutter depress for pre-focusing and multiple receiver control is possible. It is ideal for studio or travel photography, and for the enthusiast photographer who wishes to have the freedom to move around the subject while shooting, to be in the picture rather than be left behind the camera, and it can be especially advantageous when taking long exposure photos.

I wanted it for some things for weddings and for portraits with me in it... It's not a bad little gizmo... It is IR light so it does have some limitations... But it has a great built in optional 2 second delay so if you are in the picture, you have a couple seconds to hide it, and you don't have to set your camera for the Self Timer. It also has a normal mode all controled by the remote. It works very similar to the nikon remote and the shutter button... 2 stage button, half way to focus than all the way to snap the pic. I use it on D700's and a D300 so they both have the screw mount and it's very secure. Wouldn't want to slam the camera up against the wall with it on there but I find it to be sturdy enough... It rotates both the sensor and the unit for best positioning.
It's very light and so far so good... Haven't had it long... but like what I see. Not sue how long the battery life will be. They give you two reciever batteries and it only takes one so that may be a sign... No problems at all with waing up the camera. you do have to press it once to wake it up just like you would with the shutter button. I like that it's very small. Wish it came with a little case... the key chain thing is kind of wothless... Overall, happy considering I was very close to spending $90 on a Pocket wizard cable and anothe $180 for another PW to use. So if you just need it for a few things, I recomend it highly... If you spend most of your time Hunting animals in the forest for National Geographic, spend the extrea $$ on a radio system. ;)

I just received this tiny little unit the other day and wondered how it might work for my outdoor weddings using a camera on a tripod and almost 300 ft away. Well, it wont work outdoors in bright light more than 10-12 ft away folks. The infared just dosent hack it. But using it from 10-12 feet away from the side of a ceremony is useful for me so I dont get in the way.Now for the good news. Indoors it does work well and from a distance. I tested it today from about 150ft away and it worked. So, for [$] its still better than a wired remote, considering a wired remote for a Canon 5D runs about half the price. Shooting in a studio enviroment a hand held wireless at this price is a bargain. On a scale from 1-10 and ten being best, I would give this little unit an 8.

Works on multiple 5D mk IIs flawlessly. Tried Canon's little "clicker" first but it simply was too weak and wonkie. Ordered this the day the Canon unit came and it was obviously outmatched by our use.
I gave it 4 Stars based on the usual complaint that all these types of items are plastic and really aren't intended for long term pro use.
Darnitall!

First remote shutter release I've used in 20 years and it was so easy to mount and use. You don't have to be a techno wiz to use this one.

I plan on using this remote shutter release for macro photography. This shutter release is a good fit for my photography, and it isn't even a name brand.

I do elevated real estate photography. This release allows me to get my camera up to 15 feet on a painters pole for exterior shots. Worked perfectly right out of the box. Batteries included, pretty good instructions. Well worth [$] if your looking for a wireless shutter release.

This remote serves the purpose but i'm not very satisfy with the transmitter. You basically have to point directly in its direction in order for it to work. Also, I wish it comes with a pouch so you could keep everything together w/o afraid you'll lost them and/or crush them by accident; the transmitter seems a bit fragile. Overall, if you're not very fussy with keeping your remote in line with the transmitter when you're in front of the camera and about 10 feet away, then I think this will do.

Have used for self-portraits and wildlife photos. Works wonderfully for both. Allows me to place the camera in an area where there is wildlife traffic and I can move away so as not to spook the subjects, and snap the photo at the perfect timing. Auto focus/exposure, etc. works exactly as if you were there to push the shutter button (assuming you don't pre-set everything to your taste in advance). The only warning... it appears that you could easily bend the three contact pins in the connector if you aren't careful in aligning them when you insert the wireless receiver. Haven't had it long enough to evaluate battery life... but it has lasted through many a shot already.

this works ok but it still seems to be a line of site set up. i tried to take self portraits and family pics but the reciever still needs to see the remote i had my remote behind my wife and could only get it to work with cleaver aiming and bouncing off the wall at only 15 feet away.

Works awesome to control bulb exposure and shutter delay setting. Also the universal feature lets you control any IR ready camera. I set off my 5D and a friends Nikon D70 at the same time with one button push. Strange battery, though it has lasted a couple months now.

Great for getting in the shot yourself without having to use the timer. Worked perfectly right out of the box. Works from a good distance. No wires to tangle. Remote works as the shutter button does. Works from behind, beside or in front of camera. Was worth the money.
Could use markings to indicate orientation to plug into camera. Plug is so small, hard to find correct angle.

Use it anytime you have the camera on the tripod. It's a wonderful step up from manually pressing the camera button for "taking the pic".
Get used to using it during daylight hours before using it at night. It appears you must stand directly over the tripod to trigger the sensor. Standing to either side does not work.

Used for group and self portraits as well as steady long exposure photos. Used on a canoeing trip, I placed it on an island about 400-500ft away near dusk and it worked perfectly. Had to use a flash to make sure it fired but it wasnt a big deal. Rubber band helps keep it held in the camera.

I was looking for a wireless remote to use with my Canon 50D and came across this one. Although it supports the two-step shutter release capability needed to focus and set the exposure and then trip the shutter, it does not fire the shutter when you want it to. When you fully depress the button to fire the shutter, there is a lag of up to 2 seconds before the shutter trips, and the shutter seems to fire when it wants and not when you want. Additionally, the build quality of the receiver feels very cheap, and it does not have a locking mechanism to secure it to the remote connection, so it can easily be knocked of the camera.
I can not recommend this product at all, given the unreliability of the shutter release system and the poor build quality.

Very easy to setup and connect to the camera but would prefer an RF rather than Infrared so line of sight not required.
