Setting the Stage - Here's a first-rate lesson in how to do successful scene painting. The three sections cover just about everything you would ever need to know on the subject.
"Preparing the Surface" talks about muslin and flats and how to prep them for surface treatment - Flame treating, priming and transferring drawings onto muslin with charcoal.
"Painting Exteriors" deals with treating brick, stone, wood, foliage, and landscapes. Learn how to achieve dimensional perspective using shadow and highlight - and the appropriate tools that work to that end.
"Painting Interiors" deals with items that are traditionally found inside a basic set such as woodgrain, marble and wallpaper. You'll be instructed in application tools such as sea sponges, rags and even newspaper - all of which help bring out a sense of texture to the set.
