JVC's GZ-HD6 120GB Everio High Definition Camcorder brings together full high definition recording, a progressive scan signal and compact design in the same way as its sister camera the HD5. However, the HD6 differs by providing an impressive 120GB of internal storage. The camcorder's 1920 x 1080 progressive scan signal produces the maximum image information for all your shots, resulting in high quality images each and every time. And, just like its companion camera, it takes up very little room in a bag or purse, making it perfect for use when traveling or for family events.
Other impressive aspects of the GZ-HD6 are the accessory shoe, headphone jack and microphone input, the latter of which are virtually unheard of in the consumer camcorder market. This camera also boasts a roomy 2.8" Widescreen Clear LCD that fights glare and ghosting when recording in bright conditions, a microSD card slot for capturing extra SP video and 1920 x 1080 stills, and a wide range of manual controls such as focus and exposure settings. Power-Linked Operation prevents wasting battery power by automatically turning the camera off when the LCD closes while the Data Battery function let's you check remaining battery power and time. These features and more are all reasons why JVC's GZ-HD6 is one impressive machine.

I'm a reporter on the tech front & often shoot products at trade shows with nothing but my messenger bag for holding gear, so size & weight are important. The GZ-HD6 is smaller than a butter box, shoots amazingly high quality HD at full 1080 and can store 10 hours of that on its hard drive. The optical image stabilizer is very effective - almost impossible to shoot poorly even at this light weight. Unlike many competitors, there's a top back headphone jack for monitoring the audio (important when using external mikes, too). The macro mode is incredible; without doing anything manually, I brought the lens hood up to (touching) the screen of an LCD computer monitor & could see the screen image in crisp focus on the camcorder's LCD panel. This is not my first HD camcorder but it is by far my favorite for incredible ease, agility, flexibility, performance & quality. It may be a consumer camera without a jug-size lens up front, but it's absolutely pro-grade.

I purchased the HD6 on the recommendation of several reviewers that suggested that the file handling was a breeze with the JVC. Obviously they are not Mac users. My intention is to use the HD6 for video presentations, testimonials, and learning clips for my website.
Using the camcorder is easy and it's results are great. The lens is spectacular and I'm pleased with the results. It's just the handling of the files with a Mac that makes it a pain. I realize some of the issue belongs to Apple and they should get their act together on this one since hard disc video is the way of the future. I had to unexpectedly install two pieces of software just to get the camera to talk to iMovie.(to covert the files to Quicktime)I will also be trying the same process on my PC to see if the problems are the same. We'll see.

I use for home-profesional recorders.
I think that is great to travel and the GZ-HD6 has an excellent quality.
Is a NTSC Cam but is full compatible with total safety in HD Ready TV, PAL and NTSC.
Maybe yet the .tod format is not popular file for edit videos, but JVC .tod files are yet sopported for many editing software.

This camera is a great product, i sold my much larger Sony HVR HD1000 which was an awesome camera, but wanted something smaller that would fit in my gear bag and that I could always take with me. The only issues I see is it is not the greatest in low light situations and battery life.......but I knew that when I bought it. Everyone gripes about the file extension, this is not an issue, one click with Square 5 and voilla.!!!!

This camera is by far the best HD camera for the price. I have many cameras I use, and this one is my favortie. The style and size of it are very handy. If you get another camera you will regret it...I have bought 4 of these, and I gave 3 of them to family members, and they love it. Needless to say, I was the hit at all their birthdays this year

i am very pleased with my new camcorder, i really love all the features, such as Mic input, headphones out,Hd out and many more,in good lighting conditions the image is really great, many of my friends are really impressed too.
the onlything I don't like is the position of the mic, and the lack of a viewfinder, this makes you to have the lcd open at all times and drains the battery quicker, but over all this is a great camera.

The advent of You Tube quality video has raised the level of forgiveness for video quality in the corporate world. Now, for less than $1,000 I have a camera adequate for internal corporate videos. Works just fine and the image quality is excellent. It's light, easy to use and store and has many advanced features. The only negative is the file transfer process. I have not been able to successfully capture video directly to an editing format without using the Everio software which adds a step. As usual, it's probably operator error. I like it so much I bought a second one for two camera shoots.

Comments about JVC GZ-HD6 120GB Everio High Definition Camcorder:
I love the camcorder works great and has a good price but there are somethings you should know before buying this product. First, the batterie does not last more than one hour because the LCD screen has to be opened in order to record. Second, sometimes the hard-drive will get really hot and the camcorder will turn itself off. Third and most important, if you have a mac this product can be really hard to work with. Reason: The camcorder shoots an MPEG2 stream which is not directly supported in Final Cut Pro or iMovie. However, there are two solutions for this problem. First, if you have QuickTime Pro you can convert MPEG2 format to MPEG and then you'll be able to see the footage on Final Cut and iMovie, but there is a problem because this process is complicated and you have to pay for QuickTime Pro unless you already have Final Cut which comes with QT Pro. The Second option in my opinion is the best, all you have to do is go to this website called [@] and download a software called MPEG Streamclip, which does the same conversion as QT Pro, it works great with macs, it is really easy to work with and best of all... it is free. I hope that after these tips you won't have to suffer as much as I did. Have Fun,Luciano dos Santos.

Nothing compares with this camcorder. Wao!!! I've been working with professional cams for more than 5 years and I had never seen such an amazing high definition camera as this one FOR THAT PRICE! The image is totally equal as a pro. Nothing different. I will buy another for my brother in California. Don't hesitate to buy this HD6. You will regret if you buy another one.

Comments about JVC GZ-HD6 120GB Everio High Definition Camcorder:
For its feature set, the GZ-HD6 is very compact. It includes many professional grade features such as 3-CCD's (one CCD for each color). The picture quality and color saturation are excellent (as good as I have seen in a non-professional camcorder). Like virtually all camcorders, the image quality decreases in low-light conditions. Although it utilizes MPEG-2 TS versus the latest video compression technology (AVCHD), the picture quality is comparable.

I run multimedia for a church and this is a great entry level camera. The only bad thing was I couldn't import any files to Premier Pro or Windows Movie maker. They have to be uploaded to a cyberlink program and rendered, wasting precious time. Other than that I would recommend this to anyone trying to do professional looking projects at nominal cost. It's got the best features of any camera in this range. (I would also perfer a touch screen LCD, but I'm happy either way.)
