I needed this tripod to conduct a series of gun 'n run interviews over two days, but also to serve in our emerging studio operation. The tripod sets up very quickly and was more sturdy than I imagined. The head pans very smoothly, much better than the old fluid head tripod I had been using. There are many adjustment points on this tripod, so it will behoove the new user to get acquainted in order to get the most out of their gear. (In other words, read the manual.) The ball head adjustment, for example, is kind of hidden, but once you know about it then you also know how to level the head very, very quickly.
The B&H sales rep' said it came with a "nice" carry bag. I asked, "How nice is 'nice'?" He said, "Well... nice." I took him at his word and was pleasantly surprised. The carry bag could have a longer strap on it, to carry over the shoulder, but it's otherwise ideal for air travel.
My only complaint about this tripod is the way the removable sliding shoe, which you attach to your camera's base, inserts and latches in the head. It can be hard to remove, even though it is simple and the design intends quick removal. The push-button latch is quite hard to press.
I'd like to use this tripod in my personal work, outside my day-job. Good good materials. Functional and very sturdy design. I'm happy with this purchase.

I bought this tripod to use with my Sony HVR-HD1000U and I have to say I was very dissappointed. The pan/tilt drag is not adjustable and the pan drag on my tripod is so stiff you literally have to hold the tripod down as you pan or you'll knock the tripod over. When you do pan, it is very jerky because it is so stiff. The tilt drag is fine. The level bubble is worthless. The legs aren't too bad for the price. Despite this having a fluid head, its worse than a $60 tripod with no fluid head that you can buy at [...] This tripod will only be used when I need to set up a fixed (unmanned) camera where I won't be needing to pan or tilt. I've learned my lesson. I'll never buy another tripod that doesn't have adjustable drag.

Comments about Pearstone VT2500B Video Tripod System:
needed the tripod for DSLR video, animation and some still photography. Firstly, the head is very stiff even when as lose as possible. This tripod is seriously light which is great or carrying it around but not so good when combined with the stiff pan head as the tripod can move with the force required to pan. I shouldn't need to use two hands, one on the handle and one holding the tripod to the ground, to quickly pan. The legs are long, the spreader is great. and the bag is very useful, and it's cheap! :)
despite its failings this is still a great tripod and will do the job! get it!

Comments about Pearstone VT2500B Video Tripod System:
I Purchased this for my 12-14LB Panasonic AJ-D700 fullsize camera.
I only use a tripod about 20% of the time and have adapted to its quirks. the rest of the time the camera is on my shoulder.
My biggest issue is the bubble level on the ball head seems to not be accurate. When you set it level and rotate the head 180 degrees the head is no longer level and the shot is off. I used 2 different levels to confirm.
My camera is on the upper end of what the tripod can support weight wise. The tripod seems to support and operate just fine with a full load.
The tilt is smoth and a decent to high ammount of tension. The Pan has very little/almost no tension, very free flowing. It is very sturdy with a full load on it. The transport bag is a blessing to have.
The legs lock in tight but do seem to leave a tiny mark on the leg. I have not looked to see I can clean off the marks but you gotta be close to see them. I have not had any issues with releasing the quick locks on the legs like some have reported.
I did end up tightening the screws for the thumb locks. In a review I read here they could not secure the base plate. If you loosen the screw (under the sticker) to the thumb lock you can adjust the lock position.
I was looking for a tripod with a large baseplate and this one fits the bill. Other options I wanted were mid level spreader, ball head, and the twin upper leg support.
The other tripod I was looking at was the SunPak but that was on back order and made my choice easy.
I see this tripod as a top level consumer model or low end pro model.
I give 4 stars and not 5 because of the built in bubble levels inaccuracy.
I would purchase this again and would recomend to a friend if they were on a budget.

Tried a number of tripods, some of which were much more expensive, and found this tripod to be outstanding! Very easy to set-up and use, and once you`re done, pack it in the the carrying case. Will definitely be purchasing another one in the future.

Durable, pro-functional, light-weight, tripod. Also comes with a nice padded carrying case. My DSLR slides and twists on the quick release plate... DSLR's don't have that second pilot hole to lock the camera to the plate. Plus, working with higher end tripods, I'd imagine the legs to have more gerth, but, it's still as stable and much lighter.

Comments about Pearstone VT2500B Video Tripod System:
This tripod is a great addition to any amateur/prosumer videographer/photographer in my opinion because of it's very durable and lightweight construction. The fluid head is very good compared to my previous generic WF717 fluid head because it has much more (I am not sure how else to put this but) fluidity. I haven't gotten a chance to try any of the $10,000 fluid heads but I'm sure it's up to par with video standards. The only problem that I have with this model is that the locking mechanism for the mounting plate is finicky if you are using a DSLR (in my case a Canon 60D) the camera gets in the way of the locking mechanism, which when you are trying to run and gun can be annoying. If you are looking for a tripod within the mid-$200 range then this is a great contender. Don't hesitate to try it against a "Davis and Sanford" or any of the other $200+ tripods because this system preforms.

This is our second Pearstone VT2500 tripod. We use it in both the studio and on location. This camera mount is well built and has great fluid action on the head. Recommended for anyone using small to medium sized cameras.

Comments about Pearstone VT2500B Video Tripod System:
This tripod is a great tripod for "run-and-gun." My only complaints include the release button, and the lack of variable resistances. After a week of using this, the silver release button for the tripod gets stuck a lot. If that happens, you must slide the camera all the way to the front and push down the pin inside manually. Second, I was disappointed that there were no options for the amount of resistance on the panning and tilting; however, it is fairly inexpensive. Overall, it is a great buy for the money!

Good news: Very sturdy construction and nice fluid head movement for an inexpensive tripod.
Bad news: the quick release plate did not work well at all with my new TM-900 camcorder. Totally shaky and unstable, defeating whole purpose of using a tripod. I went back to the store and found that the $25 Manfroto quick release plate fits the TM-900 snug as a bug and slides easily into the VT2500B tripod! Problem solved.

I will be using this for wedding/event videography. Now I won't have to worry about head bobble from my previous tripod. And with the tripod dolly, the transitions in band videos will be smooth and seamless.

I got this tripod two weeks ago because it was in my budget and sounded like the tripod I was looking for. I have shot a short film with it so far and I am impressed so far. I shoot with a Panasonic p2 HVX 200 and it does great with this cam.

If one wants to get a nice tripod without spending a lot of money but still getting the job done, this is the way to go. Yes you can buy a [$] dollar tripod, but it's not the tools it's the man or woman behind the creation that counts.

Great tripod for the price. Great build, very sturdy, smooth moves. The only flaw seems to be my level bubble isn't extremely accurate, but using something in the horizon to level is not too tough. Overall, very happy with this purchase.
