The 8GB of internal memory in the HDR-UX20 High Definition DVD Handycam Camcorder sets it apart from its counterpart the UX10. This hybrid system not only records to the internal memory but like the UX10 also to mini-DVD and Memory Stick media, for immediate playback or quick uploading to your PC or Memory Stick compatible device. Whether you're recording your child's softball game or a family outing every minute will be captured in full 1920 x 1080 HD for brilliant, clear video and still images.

The 2.3Mp ClearVid CMOS sensor boasts stunning video and still footage. The BIONZ image processor supercharges images and handles the Dynamic Range Optimizer that controls tough lighting situations for you in-camera. The HDR-UX10 provides 4Mp still images with amazing clarity thanks to the Progressive Shutter System. In addition, Face Detection technology offers an alternative for finding the scene you want fast while the built-in zoom mic enables the clearest audio for all your videos.

• Full 1920 x 1080 HD: Record in the true clarity and detail of full 1920 x 1080 HD.

• Hybrid Recording: Hybrid recording lets you capture video or still images to the 8GB internal memory, mini-DVD and Memory Stick PRO Duo and Memory Stick Duo media. Mini-DVDs can be played back in most DVD players (SD), computers, Blu-ray Disc players and Play Station 3 video game consoles. Use the Memory Stick media for quick and easy emailing, transferring to PCs, printing or using with compatible Memory Stick devices. Also burn video from the internal Memory and Memory Stick to DVD in-camera.

• 2.3Mp 1/5" Advanced HAD CCD Sensor: The 2.3Mp 1/5" Advanced HAD (Hole Accumulation Diode) CCD sensor gives your video and still images better than ever clarity, accuracy and detail with 2.3Mp (effective) pixels. The BIONZ image processor provides faster response times from the camera and noise reduction for perfect pixels. Exmor technology provides high resolution images with outstanding detail and rich tones, further improving this already spectacular image sensor.

• BIONZ Image Processor: Sony's BIONZ Image Processor uses hardware based Large Scale Integrated (LSI) circuitry to provide the camera with a faster response time and prolong battery life. The BIONZ also removes noise from the image prior to RAW data conversion for the cleanest video possible and handles the Dynamic Range Optimization processing.

• Face Detection for Video & Still Images: The BIONZ processor enables the Face Detection technology on the HDR-UX10 camcorder. This system recognizes up to 8 faces anywhere in a frame automatically adjusting focus, exposure and color for the most natural skin tones in each image while leaving background images unchanged.

• Dynamic Range Optimizer 2: Never worry again about capturing images on bright days or in low-light conditions. The BIONZ processor powers this high-speed processing engine that automatically adjusts the scene for you. Bright highlights are brought down, preventing whiteout and preserving detail even on the sunniest of days. In low-light or backlit settings the Dynamic Range Optimizer brings out detail in shadows resulting in a natural and clear scene.

• Built-In Zoom Mic with 5.1 Channel Recording: When your camera's zoom goes in for the close-up so does the built-in zoom mic. The mic focuses on the sound coming from your subject, letting all other noises fall into the background for clear and accurate dialogue and sound.

• Exmor Technology: The Exmor technology featured in the 2.3Mp ClearVid CMOS sensor provides high resolution and sensitivity that results in rich, detailed stills and video.

• On Screen Zoom & Record Buttons: Never worry about hitting the zoom or record buttons when you're in the middle of filming again. With convenient placement on the LCD frame unconventional shots are easier than ever.

• Film Roll Index 2: Sony makes finding scenes quick and user-friendly with the Film Roll Index 2. Much like the chapters in a book the index helps you find the video scenes you want by previewing the beginning. You also have the option to display scenes at intervals of 3, 6 and 12 seconds or 1 and 5 minutes.

• Face Index 2: The ingenious Face Index 2 technology lets you find the video scene you want by face. Choose from the faces displayed in the index and the scenes in which that person appears will be selected.

• HDMI Connection with Bravia Sync (CEC) Technology: This HDMI connection allows HD video and 5.1 channel audio signals to transfer from the camcorder to a compatible HDTV via one cable using Bravia Sync (CEC) technology. Control the HDTV and the camcorder with the Bravia TV remote as well thanks to the HDMI.

• Switchable HD/SD Format Recording: Capture and playback in either high definition (HD)4 or standard definition video.

• Active Interface Shoe: The Active Interface Shoe is Sony's proprietary hot shoe. This shoe enables Intelligent Accessory lights and microphones to run off the camcorder's power.
