So far I really love this video camera. I use it to take home videos of my son growing up and it works great for that purpose. It's small and easy to carry around. Quick to turn on and record and the picture is clear and it has the face detection. This can be very well used for still photography also. You don't need another digital camera for this. Dual recording on SD card is another advantage.

In all, a very good camera in a decent price range

My wife and I just got back from 2 weeks travelling out west to see all the National Parks. We wanted a video camera that took pictures also, but after reading many reviews of some of the inexpensive recorders performing less than our expectations-we researched more. All of the video and picture quality was excellent, even the 'zoom' pictures. I am well pleased with this product for the usage of a typical family. I took over 400 stills and almost 20 gigs of video and the only thing I had to delete was the Carlsbad Caverns video because it was extremely dark in most places. So I took more still pictures and the built-in flash worked great.

I bought this videocamera as a gift for my brother and tested it by myself. It comes with big Sony NPFH60 battery and you can charge it without charger, just plug in the camera to power outlet. It comes with software to handle video and photo, and video can be viewed in Real player (in Windows media player sound doesn't work). Screen protector opens automatically, hard drive is very voluminous. Easy to navigate on touch screen menu. Works with Sony MSMT4G 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo (Mark2) Media, which I bought to store photos only. 15X optical zoom seems enough, I tested it in Niagara Falls and it is good enough.
The weak point I think, the quality of night vision mode video is not good in too dark places. Probably it would be better to buy additional infra-red lamp and attach it on top of the camera.
Photo quality seems good for 4Mpixels.

This was by far the easiest and most fun camera I have used. I am not very electronics oriented but had no trouble with this camera at all. It was very easy to start up and use. I love the quick on/off button which helps capture all those moments without leaving the camera on. The sound on playback with the camera is great and my kids love watching themselves on video! This camera is so easy, literally my 7 and 5 year olds are able to take video and pictures! My 7 year old also was able to figure out on her own how to use the touch screen to review pictures. The only, and I do mean only thing I don't like is the camera battery - I can only get it to last about 2 1/2 hours per charge which makes for problems on the weekends when we are out - BUT it charges extremely quickly at the wall! All in all - great choice of camera and I would highly recommend it!

Small enough to fit in most jacket pockets, lightweight, great quality video, good still picture quality, 5.1 sound is nice option, has accessory hotshoe-light unit decreases battery time by almost half, easy to use and download, hard drive and flash card eliminate need for carrying extra tapes/discs, Night Shot is limted to about 3'-Super Night Shot is nicer

I just purchased the DCR-SR220 a few weeks ago and I have not only been satisfied with the product (as I knew I would) [...]. When I called a few days after my camcorder and peripherals arrived to ask a question about compatability of the memory stick, I received excellent service on the phone and was quickly directed to a knowledegable agent who was able to put my concerns to rest. I know B&H from my local dive shop which specializes in (among other things) underwater video and I always overhear folks there talking about B&H in reference to their cameras and camcorders that they use for underwater photography/videography.

I chase a 2 year old all day, and the speed with which the Handycam is ready to use makes certain I don't miss those once in a lifetime moments. It's compact size and thoughtful arrangement of controls always leaves me one hand free to engage in the action instead of just recording it. Its ability to shoot stills while recording video is invaluable. Hard drive size and battery life keep this cam in use almost constantly.

This is a really nice camera. It was a replacement for an SR-80 that was stolen from me on vacation and I love some of the new features. The USB port on the camera instead of just the docking station was a nice plus. The HD just makes things a lot easier as well. I was happy to upgrade to the 4mb still picture as well.

Bought this Camcorder largely to video my daughter's soccer games.
Generally like the 220. Easy to use and the supplied software is good enough for my purposes. On a tripod get a nice result even with long distance shots. The small size is nice, the touch screen works well. The screen is a bit small when the action is distant and the zoom is a little too quick but otherwise I recommend the 220
