With up to 40 hours of recording time (in LP mode) the Sony DCR-SR85 60GB Hybrid HDD/Memory Stick Camcorder even the most ambitious of souls won't run out of space to record. The Memory Stick media adds up to an additional 325 minutes (in LP mode) of record time, giving you that extra cushion, should you need it. When you're done shooting use the included Handycam Station for One Touch Disc burn when connected to your PC via a USB cable. Capturing and sharing your video has never been easier.

The SR85 also features a built-in zoom mic for exceptional audio, a Quick On button so you never miss the big moment, 25x optical zoom and a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar Lens for professional quality recordings. The 2.7" touch panel Clear Photo LCD Plus display offers 211k pixels for clear and accurate images while Super SteadyShot image stabilization works to prevent the age-old problem of hand shake.

• 1/6" Advanced HAD CCD Sensor: The 1/6" Advanced HAD (Hole Accumulation Diode) CCD sensor gives your video and still images exceptional accuracy and clarity with 340k (effective) pixels.

• Hybrid Recording to the 60GB Hard Disk Drive or Memory Stick Media: Record to the 60GB internal hard disk drive or to Sony's own Memory Stick Duo or Memory Stick PRO Duo (sold separately) recording media. Images from the HDD can be transferred in-camera to Memory Stick media. Use the Memory Stick media in your PC or compatible Memory Stick device for uploading to edit, email, or print.

• 25x Optical Zoom: 25x optical zoom brings your subject clear and close with no loss of video image.

• 2.7" Wide Touch Panel Clear Photo LCD Plus Display: The widescreen touch panel 2.7" LCD display rotates up to 270° for optimal recording from any angle. Now you can get any shot you want and frame what you're recording without loosing the image.

• Memory Stick PRO Duo Media Slot: The Memory Stick PRO Duo Media slot allows you to insert Memory Stick PRO Duo and Memory Stick Duo media (sold separately) for capturing video and still images.

• Quick On-2: Don't ever miss the key moment again! One press of the Quick On button puts the camcorder into sleep mode, when you press the button a second time it comes back on instantly, ready to record.

• Built-In Zoom Mic with 5.1 Channel Recording: When your camera's zoom goes in for the close-up so does the built-in zoom mic. The mic focuses on the sound coming from your subject, letting all other noises fall into the background for clear and accurate dialogue and sound.

• Easy Handycam Button: Sony knows that camcorders can be complicated at times. That's why they give you the option to keep things simple with the Easy Handycam Button. This option locks out more complicated features. Only the buttons essential to recording remain unlocked, letting you concentrate on capturing and enjoying the moment.

• Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar Lens: Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lenses have been designed especially for consumer camcorders. These lenses offer the sharpness and quality of professional lenses.

• InfoLITHIUM Battery with AccuPower Meter System: The InfoLITHIUM Battery with the AccuPower Meter System is one smart rechargeable battery. View remaining battery or charging time (in minutes) on the LCD or viewfinder so you always know where you're at with battery life. These batteries are not subject to memory effect which shortens battery life when you charge too often. Charge whenever you want without worry.

• Stamina Battery Power Management System: The Stamina Battery Power Management System lets the camcorder extend InfoLITHIUM battery life for extra long recording.

• Fader Effects 2: When ending or starting a scene abruptly won't do, use the black or white fader effects for a smooth, professional looking transition

• Face Index 2: The ingenious Face Index 2 technology lets you find the video scene you want by face. Choose from the faces displayed in the index and the scenes in which that person appears will be selected.

• Film Roll Index 2: Sony makes finding scenes quick and user-friendly with the Film Roll Index 2. Much like the chapters in a book the index helps you find the video scenes you want by previewing the beginning. You also have the option to display scenes at intervals of 3, 6 and 12 seconds or 1 and 5 minutes.

• One Touch Disc Burn: Supplied Software allows you to burn copies of your video or stills onto DVD when you connect via a USB cable to your PC and hit the One Touch Disc Burn button. It couldn't be easier!

• Progressive Shutter System: This feature progressively scans your still images using an interlaced scanning system for detail and accuracy.

• Super NightShot Infrared System: Ever want to record at night or in low light but can't? Well now you can. The Super NightShot Infrared System records with a slow shutter speed to capture video even in complete darkness (0 lux) providing video with both color and clarity

• Multi-Language Menu: Choose from menus in English, English (simplified), Canadian French, Latin American Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese.
