Sony's DCR-HC62 MiniDV Camcorder gives the die hard MiniDV fans what they want and then some. The 1.0Mp Advanced HAD (Hole Accumulation Diode) CCD sensor provides beautiful video and stills every time. While the 2.7" SwivelScreen LCD display rotates up to 270° for capturing video from multiple angles and sharing scenes upon playback with friends. And, when you want to shoot at night or in low-light situation the Super NightShot Plus Infrared System uses a slow shutter speed allowing you to capture the moment even in total darkness.
The DCR-HC62 also features a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar Lens so you can shoot like a pro. The Memory Stick media slot is for storing still images on Memory Stick PRO Duo and Memory Stick Duo cards. As if this camera didn't already have enough great features The Super SteadyShot Picture Stabilization system saves your video and stills from hand shake and motion for a steady image. If you love MiniDV this just might be the camcorder for you.

The DCR-HC62 is a great camcorder for the beginning user. I bought this to create web content and it has the ability to be both easy to use (point and shoot basically) or very user specific. The video quality is more than good enough for web and even looks good on a computer screen or television. What I most wanted from a camcorder was the ability to plug it in and record without having to depend on battery life, like some of the mini HD camcorders. I'm thoroughly pleased with my purchase.

This product is a great product for people who have done home movies and are looking to step up to the next level. It offers many useful features that work very well for shooting good short movies or recording memorable moments. It is very portable and works very well for quick set-ups and shoots. On the downside though, this camera is frustrating to use for midlevel and advanced videographers due to the fact that all the manual camera controls are buried in the menu. Overall, a great camera for shots when everything can be set on auto, but falls short for those people who wish to shoot something more complicated. It is a good, useful camera that can be used by anyone but still has enough to keep more experienced users busy.

Comments about Sony DCR-HC62 MiniDV Camcorder:
Very nice color and resolution. Unfortunate that Sony is no more manufacturing this model and there is a trend to move towards digital. But those who prize picture quality will love this one at a slightly higher price but much better results than HC52. Suggest to just grab if you get this one. Wish the still pic reso was higher than 1MP.

Comments about Sony DCR-HC62 MiniDV Camcorder:
Mainly use it to record the growth of my kids. The video function meets my requirements. Do not feel any signigicant improvement than my HC48.
The photo function is really bad: bad resolution, bad color, slow speed. I have very steady hands, but cannot take sharp pictures.

I am a private investigator. I find this product to be a great asset in my tookbox. It is small and lightweight and works on a tripod really well.

Comments about Sony DCR-HC62 MiniDV Camcorder:
This camcorder delivers all that I need. It has just enough bells and whistle to keep me happy and delivers a quality picture. If you are looking for a high end product, this may not satisfy all of your needs. However, for shooting video for several hours a year, this camcorder is well worth the price. The picture and sound quality is very good indoors and outdoors.
