Sony's HD Radio for iPod & iPhone brings you amazingly clear sound from AM and FM HD radio stations without the subscription fees that are standard with satellite radio. You'll not only enjoy high fidelity AM/FM/HD radio technology with static-free reception but you'll also be able to utilize Data services, which provide artist names and song titles and FM multicasting, which allows multiple program streams over a single FM frequency. Use the 20 AM and 20 FM presets to keep your favorite spots on the dial available at a touch.
But let's not forget about the iPod and iPhone compatibility. Your docked iPod or iPhone charges while it plays. In addition, its basic functions can be controlled with the wireless remote from across the room. Wake up to your iPod, radio, connected audio device (via line-in) or the buzzer with the alarm clock feature. The system also boasts impressive audio thanks to the stereo speakers with Bass reflex sound and the treble, bass and surround sound control functions.

I bought this Sony (XDR-S10HDiP HD RADIO w/IPOD DOCK) after hearing it at the Apple Store. I was originally looking at the Bose system bc if the sound, but it was too expensive. This unit sounds great and doesn't distort when turned loud. The bass is very good for its size and its very easy to use.
It has a TAG button so you can tag songs you hear on the radio and then it will upload them into your ipod for you to download on iTunes ifyou want. That was pretty neat. It also lets you control the bass, treble, screen brightness, etc. very easily, which other system don't even have.
The only thing I don't like are the screen is still a little bit bright on the lowest setting.
I also wish it didn't have the big power supply. I wanted to keep it in my bathroom, but the power supply has nowhere to go. Its similar to a laptop, with a cord running to the supply and then another one ot the wall. The cord is very long though, which is great.
Overall, I love this unit and would recommend it to anyone.

This Radio Works fine, has good reception and powers my ipod great. It just does not sound good. The Audio Quality is just not Good period. I wish I listened to it before buying, now I know not to buy online without physically testing something first. I was hoping for sound quality like the BOSE and ended up with sound quality on par with an old transistor radio. I use this Radio in my small kitchen with tile floors, maybe it would sound better in another situation.

I wrote my fisrt review soon after receiving the product.
I really like it. It is affordable, quality. Our reception has improved 300%, not to mention qualtiy of sound.
We use it in the kitchen.
The transformer is clunky; the antennas for FM we pinned to the wall. No it is not perfect.
I love it.

Comments about Sony HD Radio for iPod & iPhone:
We live in a hilly area with very poor reception. Our old kitchen boombox was set on 3 stations, 2 FM and 1 AM.
With the Sony HD radio we can now listen to many more radio station with better reception and good sound.
My husband set it up, he is more technical than I am. The FM antenna needs to be pinned to the wall. The transformer is very heavy and bulky.
Overall I think that this is a superb product for the price.
I look forward to using the iPod feature.

Comments about Sony HD Radio for iPod & iPhone:
We bought this radio for my dad after our public radio station went to an all news format. He is not at all tech savvy and I have very limited skills, but I was able to set up the antennas and program the three stations my dad wanted very quickly and easily. He plays it all the time and loves it. It has a great look and a great sound. No plans to use it with an iPod at this point so can not speak to that function.

Comments about Sony HD Radio for iPod & iPhone:
We live close to transmitters but thanks to hills and close-packed housing, have always had poor FM reception. This radio solved that problem with only the single wire antenna, not the dipole. It lives in the kitchen but receives all the stations that the main theater system does with a separate tuner and rooftop antenna.
Sound quality is excellent and the iPod/iPhone connection is an unexpected plus. No cell signal interference and easy charging of the phone.

Comments about Sony HD Radio for iPod & iPhone:
I use this as an alarm clock radio. I wake up to my favorite HD radio station every morning.
This is my first HD radio experience and it has not disappointed. The dipole antenna provided pulls in many HD stations in the Austin, TX area. And they sound great, especially with the surround processor selected for music stations.
I like that I can set the alarm to not just the station I want to wake up to, but also the volume level I want. That way, if my three year old grandson fiddles with the volume setting, I can still wake up to the appropriate sound level.
I can change the LCD display to emphasize the information I think is important. In my case, that's the time of day, so that is always big and easy to read, even without my glasses on.
I can also adjust the brightness of the LCD in three or four steps, so it isn't so bright it keeps me awake at night.
My only complaint is the size of the unit. I would prefer a smaller footprint on my nightstand. Maybe it could be half as deep?

This system delivers everything it says it would do and I am glad I went for it, the HD sound quality, with Surround Sound on is nice and clear, I need to keep the volume down but can hear quality sound.
However, I will never understand why they have an iPod only feature and not make it support their own Walkman (or provide an adapter). I'd like to be able to use my Sony Walkman with the Sony HD.

I bought the radio for the HD only stations I wanted to receive. We play jazz or classics several hours a day. Haven't used the i-pod feature much, but it works easily. Sound quality is good.

Comments about Sony HD Radio for iPod & iPhone:
After listening to numerous units in the $100-$200 range, this Sony unit produced the best sound - full, loud, and clear. It's surprisingly small, and to be hones, I'm not sure how they do it as other units list more audio power.
The remote allows you to control the iPod for navigation. The HD radio is a nice perk.
The annoyance is that the power adapter is external. Worse is the fact that the cord cannot unplug from the unit. Also disappointing is the fact that if you unplug the unit, all the presets disappear.
We knew all this before we bought it, and still settled on it as the best value. B&H had the best rice around too.

Comments about Sony HD Radio for iPod & iPhone:
I was 'forced' to buy an HD radio when our local PBS station moved all their classical music to HD. I wasn't happy about it. I picked the Sony for price, size, the iPod dock and my previous good experiences with Sony products and so far have no regrets. Set up was easy, the controls are intuitive and the sound quality is good.

This product looks great, it has a very good sound. It links great with our ipods and also comes with an audio plug to attach another device, like an mp3 player. We especially like the HD scan for HD stations. My husband is technically challenged yet he has found this product easy to use.
