The ICD-UX70 (Silver) from Sony is a Digital Voice Recorder that plays and records MP3 files. The integrated stereo microphone can record up to 290 hours in LP mode with dual sensitivity settings for music and voice. Digital Pitch control and Voice Operated Recording makes this voice recorder ideal for dictation. The integrated speaker allows for instant playback without having to wear headphones. One AAA will allow for up to 34 hours of playback and 12 hours of recording. The ICD-UX70 can plug directly into your PC with its built-in USB key for simple drag & drop file transfers without additional software.

This recording device has been essential with my job negotiations and talking on the phone with my lawyer. It is easy to use, provides a slick USB interface to immediately download and listen to your conversations. Quality is great and you can even keep it in your bra while you are walking down the street and having a conversation with your boss! The pick-up on the mic is great.

I haven't gone through all the paces with this yet, but I'm impressed with sound quality from the internal mics and overall ease of use. I save a lot of time and headaches by using the generous internal storage versus swapping out memory cards. Just plug the device into the USB. It shows up on the desktop. Drag and Drop.
Theoretically, you could take an mic feed from a mixing board or a field mixer into the mini-mic plug and record at the highest quality settings. It may save your butt in the event of a breakdown of your primary device.
