I originally bought this tripod a few years ago and it has been an excellent tripod, especially for the price. It's tall, durable and great for photography and even some video. I say "some video" because the head on it is not a "true fluid head" it has a pretty smooth horizontal; pan. but the vertical is only "ok" I bought this one, the second one, because i needed a second one not because anything was wrong with the 1st. The Sticks are nice too, easy to use, if you have a better head, mainly one for video, you can unscrew the head that came with and put on a different one.

again, sturdy, cost effective, and I highly recommend.

I primarily wanted this tripod to be stable enough for 5.5lbs binoculars I use for stargazing. Binoculars have their weight shifted to one side, so the demand on the tripod is greater than for cameras, where the weight is directly on top and distributed evenly. A 5ft person can easily get the binoculars high enough over their head to point into the sky.

The tripod is strong enough to maintain the weight of the heavy binos, and the head can maintain the angle I set it to. As an amateur I just wanted stability and longevity, and so far I can attest to its stability.

It's definitely got a big wide footprint, which I see as a positive because it lessens the tendency to tip over. This doesn't really feel like a tripod meant to be set up and moved over and over again for filming the same event, but it does have the detachable head piece where you can quickly remove the camera/binos.

Great product, it is heavy, but that is the best part because it is very stable. I'm 6'4" and I got a surprise the first night I used it, for I did not have to bend down at all, it actually put the camera over my head. I do wish that it came with two camera connectors, so I didn't have to change. But i can live that, more that I could with a sore back from bending over with my old tripod.

Quality tripods can be very pricey. The 7500 series offers a low-cost alternative.
My only complaint is that the little arm that you adjust for camcorder maneuverablitly has a tendency to break after several months of usage.

The pan handle got in the way when I shot portraits. I learned why many photographers prefer ball heads. The head on this tripod can be unscrewed and replaced with a ball head.

Also agree with earlier comment, for portraits use mirror lock up on your DLSR to minimize shake. I've also hung a weight bag on the center.

I tried to pair this with an 80mm spotting scope and found it was woefully inadequate. While the legs where somewhat sturdy, the pan head was not smooth at all. furthermore, the quick-release mechanism was very loose and quite wobbly. Bottom line, if you need sturdy support for any medium to large camera gear or any heavier equipment, you will need to look elsewhere.

Used for portraits, night photography, landscape, and wildlife viewing with spotting scope.

Quick attachment of camera and scope. Comes with two mounts for easy switching.

I bought this because two of my professional photographer friends use it for photo/video. It is a good tripod for my needs. I like the range and height (I'm 6'2"). I'm still figuring out all the adjustments but it seems like it is pretty solid.

This is a superb tri pod and a value at the reasonable price. Have used it to photo about 50 children with Santa - allowed for a great uniformity in the pictures.

I bought this tripod for video rather than photography and the price was right since I was starting however the panning on it is jerky at best in fine movement. I do a lot of panning for product video and if you are zoomed in at all it is noticeable. It is almost impossible to get smooth shot with this. I would imagine it is good for photography though.

Seems some what stable with the head attachment but the screw can unscrew a bit then the camera can move.

Clearly a best buy! 5 star value for the money.
4 stars when compared with $1000 Gitzos.

I have been a pro landscape shooter for over 30 years and this may be my favorite ever tripod. The flip-lock legs are extremely quick and easy to use - best ever.

This tripod is not the most rigid that I have ever used, but it is very adequate. Just use mirror lockup and pause a few seconds before you release the shutter.

I have replaced the flimsy included head with a Bogen ball-head. The included head is ok for small lightweight cameras, but not for a 5D with a larger zoom lens like the 100-400.
To get a better tripod than this, you'll need to spend over $400.

I don't like that the legs are not individually adjustable for angle, and that they have the center brace that ties them all together, but that has never hindered me from getting the shot. I have attached a ball head on the bottom of the center column that I use for low-angle shots.

It is heavy. Yes. But I sometimes take photos standing in rushing creek waters and at beaches as the tide comes in. I need something heavy to stay put against moving water so the 6.2 pounds of this tripod does the trick.

Unfortunately, within the first few months, the pan handle snapped off. My son being a clever welder, welded a reebar handle on it for me. Haven't had any pan handle incidents since.

Now, 5 years later after extensive and heavy use, the center piece snapped in two so when extended up, it is unsturdy/unusable.

If it weren't for the pan handle, I would be buying a new one today....however, my son the welder now lives two states away. I will be shopping for something else around the same weight instead.

As a note - I also own a very high end manfrotto set-up, but will never put THAT in creeks and oceans waters. I don't mind lower end tripods. I just want one with a pan handle that stays attached longer than a few uses.

Looked like a good buy at first, solid and substantial, but the crank for raising/lowering vertically was broken off, either [...] or the first time I turned it. Looked cheaply made. Disappointed, to say the least.

If you want to feel like hercules buy this tripod. After a few months of use the pan handle will snap completely off. I have broken 3 of these already by using the pan handle under normal conditions. It consists of a piece of metal literally glued to the socket. Spend the extra money and go something else. I can't think of one good thing about this tripod. The panning is plastic grinding on plastic, not smooth at all, and it is very cheaply made.
