I recently rated this product right after it arrived, saying that I had used non-Canon batteries before in my Rebel and they worked fine. I have now had a chance to use the Pearstone along with the Canon battery in my recently purchased 50D. I generally use my batteries until they drop one notch on the power indicator, so here is the scoop. The original Canon battery lasted 300 shots prior to dropping the first notch on the power display. The Pearstone lasted 320 shots before dropping one notch on the power indicator. I did use a Canon IS lens quite a bit on the Pearstone. They are very close, and I must admit that having just received my 50D body and the two batteries (Canon and Pearstone) I used the Canon first - and I did play around with the menu a lot more during the learning curve. So all that said, I believe the less expensive Pearstone battery is less expensive only because it does not say Canon on it. I can see no difference so far in charging time or battery life. And again, I saw no difference between aftermarket VS Canon batteries in my Rebel XTI (almost 10,000 clicks on that one).

This battery works great as long as you don't use it for a sporting event. I used it over a month for portrait sessions, and didn't notice any difference between this and the Canon supplied battery. Then I used it at a recent sporting event where I took roughly 1400 frames on this battery. Now, even after a fresh recharge, I get an error on the camera to turn it off and then back on, or reinstall the battery. I can't get through even a few shots now before getting this error.
I would not recommend this battery for any use except sporting events requiring fast continuous shooting, which seems to have led directly to this battery failing.

Comments about Pearstone BP-511A Lithium-Ion Battery (7.4V, 1500mAh):
I use this in my battery grip for my 5D. So far it appears to be just as good as the canon brand, plus it is cheaper. No problems so far.

Comments about Pearstone BP-511A Lithium-Ion Battery (7.4V, 1500mAh):
I've been using the same two Lithium Ion batteries since I bought my DSLR almost 10 years ago. I know, time for a camera upgrade - but it's not in the current budget. The batteries were drained in under 10 minutes. It was frustrating. I got nervous when I couldn't find the same battery on the B&H site, but the Pearstone replacement seems to do the trick. You're supposed to fully charge a battery when it's new, but this one was already a full charge. I like not having to worry about my battery failing in the middle of a shoot. It would have 5 stars if I'd used it more than once, but so far I've only used it once and I can't be sure of how next time will go...

The purchase was very recent. So far so good - holds the charge well. The next key question to be answered over time only is how long will it last.

I found this battery works as well as the OEM battery which came with the camera. I charged it up and to it off to the great outdoors for a long weekend, it performed well and lasted for more than 4+ days shooting in a variety of conditions from hot during the day and rather cold evenings, including several night shoots, very happy with the performance of this product

The Pearstone brand does the same job as the Canon version at half the price. The olive green color kind of threw me off at first after the gray of the Canon version but it grew on me pretty quickly. I think I'll be getting another one of these pretty soon to replace my aging Canon versions.

Comments about Pearstone BP-511A Lithium-Ion Battery (7.4V, 1500mAh):
Pleasantly surprised how well this battery performed at the last wedding. I purchased two thinking that I would need to change batteries during the event. One was all I needed per camera. Obviously manufactured at a factory with high standards. The great price was a bonus. Would purchase again without hesitation.

I haven't had the batteries all that long so I haven't used them that much, but they charged up quickly and I've had no problems with either of the 2 copies I bought.
What struck me this time as it has in the past was the service. The gentleman who took my order was very knowledgeable and helpful, and I would most certainly call B&H again and recommend B&H to my friends with no hesitation or recommendation.

I use this replacement battery in an original 6MP Canon Rebel.....the original Canon battery lasted for many years and daily shooting of 100's of photos.
I had another off-brand battery for the camera, but it did not last long at all (months) before it quit holding a charge.
The Pearstone BP-511A charged up in my original charger, and has lasted for over 500 shots so far (same charge), and is still showing full. Moost of the shots were taken in available light, without flash.
So far, so good, for about half the price of the original Canon battery. The other Pearstone AA batteries that I use for my speedlights work fantastic as well.

Comments about Pearstone BP-511A Lithium-Ion Battery (7.4V, 1500mAh):
I just bought 2 of these to use with my BG-C3 vertical grip. Tested them out on a weekend shoot and I am in love with them already. My Canon 50D was on for 3 hours straight and I shot over 300 pictures without putting a dent in the battery's charge! Three days later I am still able to pull my camera out of the bag with a full-charge showing on the camera.
My only pet peeve is that the edges of the battery are a little rounded so the plastic lock that hold the battery in place on my vertical grip slips off before I can close the battery gate. Once it is closed the batteries stay in fine, but it can be a pain getting them to stay in long enough to get the battery gate closed.

Comments about Pearstone BP-511A Lithium-Ion Battery (7.4V, 1500mAh):
An item such as a camera battery is out of sight, out of mind ... unless it does not perform, or last.
This item is still new, but I fully expect that it lives up to or exceeds its name brand competitor.
I appreciate the voice of experience on the other end of the line.
