The MR8 from Mackie provides professional-quality sound at an incredibly affordable price. This active nearfield monitor is ideal for stereo or surround sound applications for professional or project studios. The rugged cabinet houses an 8" steel-frame woofer and a waveguide-loaded 1" tweeter to provide a full frequency response. Class A/B amplifiers provide a total of 150W of power for a strong performance.
A precisely-molded minimum-diffraction baffle allows sound to travel smoothly in a wide dispersion pattern. This provides a wide sweet spot for accurate mixing. The MDF cabinet features a rear bass port designed to deliver strong bass without vent noise, distortion, or pressure.
The rear panel of the monitor offers XLR, TRS, and RCA connectors so you can connect to virtually any system you encounter. High and low frequency filters and an input level control are also provided for fine-tuning your sound. The monitor is also magnetically shielded for safe use near video monitors.

Comments about Mackie MR8 150W 8" Active Two-Way Studio Monitor:
I use this product in a home studio as a set of studio monitors, connected via XLR to a Mackie D.4pro mixer.Compared to my last set of monitors, KRK Rokit5, they are on par for sound clarity, if not better. I have not used the Rokit8 much, but it's also about twice the price of the MR8, so I put it in a different category. With monitors, you don't want the speakers to make your music "sound good"; you want it to show you what's missing, standing out, or clipping. These do that very well, and translate pretty well to my powered JBL PA system, better than the Rokit 5. I also test my mixes on a set of computer speakers, just to make sure it sounds decent on a consumer grade system. No complaints. It is a [$] monitor, so it lacks that little edge that some of the Genelecs, Dynaudios, or Adams, but for the price, no major complaints.

Comments about Mackie MR8 150W 8" Active Two-Way Studio Monitor:
I bought these monitors one week ago. Nothing in this price range comes close to the full flat and big sound that these monitors deliver.
They really sound terrific.
