While it does not let itself down in terms of build quality or design, it is not a perfect solution for all cameras. I purchased it for a Canon S5 and while it supports the camera brilliantly, it also prevents access to the card and battery cover, so every time you have to change either, it has to be removed. I doubt this is the same for all compact cameras but it is worth bearing in mind.
In case you're wondering, it would struggle with a DSLR - I tried it with my Canon 5D and it simply fell forwards.
Ideal for the right small cameras, but flawed with others. It still looks Manfrotto-gorgeous though!

The big disappointment here is that the 1/4 x 20 threaded piece that screws into the bottom of the camera must be turned with a screwdriver. A much more preferred method would have been for the manufacturer to have attached some sort of turning device which could be operated with the hand instead of having to find a screwdriver to attach this to the camera.

What a great little gizmo, so easy to use and store, even leave it attached to the camera.
The craftsmanship is superb, an excellent well made product.
If it only had three legs, it would be perfect.

I got this for my girlfriend because she is always balancing her camera on ledges. This provides a more stable base and is small enough for her to carry it around all the time.

It's solid, holds the camera steady, but it's pretty much a horizontal shooting angle, no matter what. It would be great with a ball head on it!

stable, lightweight platform with top-notch construction. folding design sits on the underneath or allows for positioning at angles. i probably wouldn't use this with a DSLR (too light). It did hold a D90w/35/1.8 but a longer lens would be pushing it. also, you can't lock the legs--if you could, it would be perfect. Still, great for a point and shoot, portable HD video cam/flip camera, audio recorder like the Zoom H2 or H1. You could even use it as a flash stand for off-camera flash. i would rate this 4.5 stars if i could

Comments about Manfrotto 797 Modo Pocket Tabletop Tripod:
For a long time, I looked for a small & portable little tripod that I would actually CARRY with my point-and-shoot type cameras -- and this is it. Lightweight, small, stable, easy to use and adjust. This is the best peice of add-on kit that exists for these little cameras.
It might cover the battery or card slot on some cameras, and it is easier to tighten with a small coin than your fingers -- but it's not a bother at all. I love it and would recommend it wholeheartedly.
Use it, and get the most from your camera!

One of those wonderful items that makes perfect sense to just leave on the bottom of your camera - unless of course it covers up battery / card access, or makes the camera slightly too big for the case. Tilt-adjusts nicely in one direction, not the other. Made well of heavy steel with secure rubber feet. Useful for the small kit that stays with you.

Well engineered product by Manfrotto. Easy to adjust up/down aim. Use it on my Canon Powershot G10. Placed on any stable platform, you've got a well designed tripod. But, just remember your camera is lower to the surface. Less intrusive design - folds neatly beneath your camera, barely noticeable.

Comments about Manfrotto 797 Modo Pocket Tabletop Tripod:
Clever Italian design, because it folds flat against the camera base and still has a hole to attach to a fullsize tripod at the same time. However, the designers made the plates out of steel and the screw out of aluminum. The thick steel is way overkill. For lighter weight and a more durable screw it should have been the opposite! [*]

This tripod is an amazing little gadget. I was most impressed by how sturdy it feels. The small size allows you to attach it to your camera and forget it is even there. A must-buy.

Got this for a new Panasonic/Lumix point-and-shoot camera I bought recently. Fits in the 1/4-20 tripod mount on the bottom...and folds up out of the way nicely when not in use...and you still have access to the battery/memory slots (would depend on the camera I guess) without taking it off the camera.
I knew it would be nice from Bogen/Manfrotto ... and it is .. very sturdy and it looks like it should last forever .. (a little bit expensive).
