Months ago I purchased a travel case for my 40D. I really like the protection it provided, but it was always a hassle as to what to do with the removeable part of the case. One day, while browsing on the B&H web site, I accidentally came across something called "body armor" specifically designed for the 40D.

The pics were intriguing and the price was right, so I ordered it. Awesome is the only way to describe. It offers protection similar to the travel case, but every control, plus the batter compartment, the on/off switch and the memory card are all accessible without removing or stretching the armor.

I'm not about to drop my camera to test the ruggedness of the body armor, but (a) it fits like a glove (b) it offers a lot of protection and (c) all the controls are not only accessible, but well marked as well.

There's also a scratch resistant cover on the back for the LCD screen - no more worry about smudging/scratching the display.

Now if I could find some body armor for my vintage D60!

I purchased this to protect my 40D from bumps and drops. It works well as a protactive skin, but has a few draw backs. If you use a lot of EF-S lenses, it can make switching them out in a hurry a problem. The manner in which the rubber skin wraps around the lens mount on the body means you have to be very careful. This isn't a problem with regular EF lenses. Also it seems to be messing up my auto-focus when I use some of my slower long lenses such as my 28-135 f3.5IS zoom.

Other than that it's a great protective skin. The included polycarbonate shield for the rear LCD screen is especially well designed and solid.

I generally take good care of my camera but there are times you by mistake may damage it. this product is great and help me to protect my camera.

The armor performs as advertised but the extra bulk and a lack of decent fit, particularly at the on/off switch make it actuate the switch.

Really like the feel it gives the camera. Good fit and materials. A little close the on/off switch-- the only thing keeping it from 5 stars.

Really like the threory, the material and the feel. Not too happy with the fit along the lower right edge of the LCD and the power switch. Hoping that with some time on the camera it may line up better.

Nice rubber cover. Protects the camera and all buttons are easily accessible. The only real down side is sometimes I carry my camera in a rubber dry bag when on a boat. The rubber armor is a bit sticky against other plastics making it a bit hard to slide the camera in and out of the bag. I get in the habit of wrapping the camera in a kerchief before putting it in the bag to avoid this. Otherwise is does the job it is intended for.

The product was easy to install on my Canon 40D, although I had a bit of difficulty getting it over my Hoodman eye cup. The fit was looser than I expected, but not so much that it interfered with use. It does add to the chunkiness of the camera body, which is good if you have big hands, might not be good if you have small hands. Unfortunately, the bottom of the Camera Armour is too thick to mount my Really Right Stuff L-bracket, so I am returning the Armor.

the protection I need for my camera, now I feel confident when using it outdoors.Easy to grip and all buttons are accessible. It could fit tighter. But it will do what I expect it to do

Poor fit around LCD cover. Interferes with door opening to CF card. Adds one more annoying ridge that my thumb rubs across while hand holding. Surprisingly good use of buttons covered by the armor! I like the grip texture. If I could heat shrink it, I might be satisfied. It will protect against cosmetic wear as intended, but interferes with ergonomics of the camera body.

I have to be honest. I've been looking at buying this product ever since I purchase my Canon 40D when it was first released. Maybe my expectations were to high. But it fits like a stretched our gym sock. Some parts work well, like the buttons, well done. but otherwise loosy goosy doesn't make this very comfortable on the camera and creates a feeling that the camera is not really solid in my hand.

I'll keep trying to see if there is some trick to getting it to fit the camera snugly; however, I'll keep my hope low and maybe it will surprise me. The other pain is that there are no suggestions or FAQ on the web site for improving the fit/.

The armor would protect the camera well, I like the LCD protector, but there is a small piece that makes the CF door difficult to open. You have to pull the material back to get the door past it. I checked the package just in case and I did get the right kind.

It will absolutely protect from scratches and small dings but the fit seems a bit off. I would probably buy another one though because it is not that big of an issue. The texture of the material is good and seems like it will add some grip.

It does add some significant thickness but feels good in my hand. I added a battery grip with camera armor also to gain some more size and I actually like that even better. I am 6'4 though and can palm a basketball so base your review of this review on that.

If you found it necessary to put a UV filter on your lens you will probably like this. I have not used the lens cable or hood though.

Poor coverage near main control wheel/power switch, the silicon keeps sticking out.. If you have a round tripod plate, the bottom of the armor will prevent its proper attachment. Doesn't work with battery grip.

Great for rugged terrain photography and not so easy to reach places. The durability and rubberized grip gives you feel of assurance and comfort as well as control. The armor fits like a glove with all control areas covered and detailed to touch, and a perfect fit around open areas with no slack. Improvement in one area could be made though. Perforated detailed buttons highlighted in white for easy reading, would be nice. Still, this product was a good buy for me. Thanks guys.
