Impossible to assemble without extra hands, and even then, once assembled the rods broke through the fabric, requiring gaffers tape to hold te thing together. Quality of light was okay, wouldn't really trust them to do anything too important though.
I would pass on this and go with something a little more expensive (ie better) next time.

Comments about Westcott Photo Basics Stripbox - 17x50" (43x127cm):
I purchased one because of the incredible value, not realizing that as is it is completely useless without a speed ring, sold seperately. That bumped the total cost up into the range of the other softboxes that include them.
However, once equipped with the proper speed ring, setup was relatively easy, taking about 15 minutes each, and the output was very nice.
I am using two of these to light a green backdrop for live chromakey photos, and these are just the ticket.

Comments about Westcott Photo Basics Stripbox - 17x50" (43x127cm):
A little flimsy, and does not hold shape around the edges very well. The rods are rather thick and the canvas is also very thick. All this combined with the heavy speed ring makes it rather heavy on my Elinchrom D-Lite. Wish they made these a lot lighter, as the current weight is making me nervous for breaking my strobes off at the clamp base. However the light from these are very good. And the boxes are quite deep making light easy to control.

Wonderful price and good build quality. Westcott is a great company with quality products. Its easy to set-up and take-down. Produces good light quality using my Lumedynes. Great for hair-light, side-light use.

This is a nice narrow softbox that we use as a hair light. It's the perfect size for that or for a fill light. The size is great. The top for the box doesn't velcro as nicely together onto the light head as do other Wescott boxes (seems a little small for the head we use it on) but works okay.

Comments about Westcott Photo Basics Stripbox - 17x50" (43x127cm):
Don't expect this softbox to be like the other brands at three and four times the price. If you are wanting the best, you'll need to pay for it. However, at the dirt-cheap price you can buy these for, they definitely give you a great value! They appear to be durable, and they work well in the studio.
The light quality is good. I haven't given them a critical test yet, but they definitely work well for side lighting people on a dark background. This stripbox would still be a good deal at twice the price.

Comments about Westcott Photo Basics Stripbox - 17x50" (43x127cm):
I own a newly started photography company and as many of you know it isn't cheap but products like this one allow me to be more versatile and just as imaginative as the big companies. It is the right size for horizon backdrop lighting as well as for large family and stand-up portraits. It offers the right ammount of light dispersion for soft lighting and the price is amazing considering similar products are more than $100. The only drawback is that there are no real intructions for assembly or care but if you email the company they will give you the info. I had a smaller softbox of the same brand that the pole ripped through because I put it in backwards. Overall this is definitely a top pick for anyone not quite ready to drop $200 on a stripbox.

I am still a beginner when it comes to studio lighting so I don't think I can give the very best review but I will try. I specialize in landscapes, portraits and weddings.
Assembly was somewhat difficult, it took me 20mins. BUT that's because I had a hard time with my speed ring and bending the rods in place.
Actual functionality:
I am using the Profoto Acute 2 1200 and attached to those heads the lighting is soft, accurate and gives a nice catch light.
