Comments about Bushnell 7x26 Elite e2 Custom Compact Binocular:

I've bought these mostly for travel.

    Pros:
Contrast is very high and feels natural without exaggeration of small details or anything like that. Chromatic aberrations are moderate. I could not notice any problems with resolution. No wonder Bushnell boasts about these binoculars being one of the best for birding.
Ergonomics are good, focusing is comfortable, exit pupil is large enough and eyeglasses are no problem.

    Cons:
There is no field flattener and field curvature is significant - about the same as in Nikon 8x42 Monarch ATB. Well, some people may even like this.
As expected these is no water resistance because focusing is performed by moving objectives back and forth.
I expected the binoculars to be less bulky - they are not "pocketable" at all.
The included case can probably be attached safely to a strap (never tried) but its shoulder strap is too weak and rings are made of plastic. The case is significantly larger than needed.
Eyepiece caps cannot be attached to a strap and there are no objective caps.

Comments about Bushnell 7x26 Elite e2 Custom Compact Binocular:

I purchased the first version of this binocular for my late wife in the spring of 1971. The older version of this model was available in both 6x and 7x, and had a gutta-percha finish rather than the current non-slip finish. This reverse Porro-prism design is still my favorite of all the compacts I have tried, including a beautiful Swarovski. This is the fourth copy of this model I have purchased, and was a special gift for a friend. The exit pupils are large enough to keep the view from blacking out, and the eye-relief is great enough for comfortable viewing with my no-line bifocals. The rendering of images is bright and sharp, and seems to give more of a three-dimensional sensation than my favorite compact roof-prism binocular. This seems to be the binocular most favored when I take my female friends and relatives hiking or biking. It is comfortable for small hands, yet it is substantial enough in size and weight for most men with large hands like mine. I often carry this optic as my first choice when I am lugging camera gear in the field. If this optic was again offered in 6x, I would buy it! The only improvements I would make to this model would be to make it immersion proof, and to reduce the minimum focusing distance.

Comments about Bushnell 7x26 Elite e2 Custom Compact Binocular:

Great to keep in the glove compartment. Easy to carry into to sports or musical events. Good as a spare for a friend. Could be lighter like its predessor ( Bauch& Lomb 7x26 ). Close focus could be 6.5 feet or less.
