Adobe Audition 3 from Adobe is software for recording, mixing, editing and mastering audio and contains a full feature set to achieve those ends. The software provides an all-in-one tool set for professional audio production and is perfect for the sound designer, musician, recording engineer, mastering engineer, or other audio-centric professional.
Faster multi-track editing is possible by providing "click-and-drag" fade handles on multi-track clips and in the edit view. Free-form selection in the frequency space with the Effects Paintbrush allows the user to apply effects in varying degrees to that selection. The Spot Healing Brush smooths over selected regions and automatically repairs clicks, pops, and other noises.
A large selection of effects are available for all aspects of music creation and support for VSTi virtual instruments further enhances the usefulness of the software. Direct to CD burning is also provided.
Recording and Mixing

- Beat detection finds and marks beats automatically making new loop file creation a snap. Greatly assists DJs and others who need to quickly match beats among multiple files

- Adaptive Noise Reduction tool intelligently remove noise that changes over time, including whines, buzzes, colored noise from fans or airplanes, etc.

I use Adobe Audition 3 to record Voiceovers. Nothing really compares to the ease of this software. Nothing extra is required - all the files are included in one download. There is no extra MP3 converter required either- it's all inclusive. This software makes recording and editing a breeze with simple drop down menus that make sense. The bonus is that you can convert the recordings to any standard format out there - MP3, WAV, AIFF, etc. Wish I had found this product 5 years ago !

If you're looking for a mastering or sound tweaking software this program is great. I bought Cool Edit 2000 which Adobe ended up buying and making some excellent enhancements and additions to the editing capabilities. Hiss removal, click and pop removal, compression and effects are great. I haven't even used the program for recording because I use Sonar but I bet it's just as good.

I use the product to edit wudio for video. One thing I really like about it is that you can right click on the audio piece, or a highlighted section, and adjust the sound levels. Very convenient. One thing I wish it had was the ability to mark multiple sections for future review. I used to be able to do this in Canary but haven't been able to do it in Audition.
