The Nikon Coolpix L18 Digital Camera provides simple operation with a compact and stylish camera body. The 8.0 megapixel resolution combined with the high quality 3x Nikkor-Zoom lens produces beautiful photographs while its intuitive operation ensures error-free command over the camera's features & functions. The large 3-inch LCD display offers a bright image that is a pleasure to view, even outdoors. The body itself assures a solid grip with a balance of flowing surfaces contrasted by sharp edge lines.
Extended light sensitivity as high as ISO 1600 prevents blurred shots in lower light, or when capturing fast-moving subjects. There is even an Easy Auto mode where users can turn on the camera and shoot without worrying about any settings - or users can access 14 different scene modes and three movie modes to get the best results to match the moment.
Powered by Nikon's exclusive EXPEED image processing engine, the Coolpix L18 features a selection of three innovative functions that provide the ability to actually improve the quality of images within the camera. Face-priority AF automatically finds, then focuses on people's faces for crisp, clear results time after time. In-Camera Red-Eye Fix automatically compensates to help eradicate traces of the annoying red-eye effect that can sometimes be encountered during flash photography. And D-Lighting can be applied to improve underexposed images or shots taken with too much backlight. D-Lighting automatically creates a copy of the image with detail added where necessary, but with well-exposed areas left completely untouched.

OUT OF THE BALL PARK
I am giving this camera 4 stars but for the price it may very well deserve 5. My only reservation is seeing how this camera will handle over time. Will it wear well?
I am giving this camera 4 stars but for the price it may very well deserve 5. My only reservation is seeing how this camera will handle over time. Will it wear well?
I bought it for my two nieces (ages 7 and 10)to be their first camera. I am a pro. photographer so this gives me a chance to share with them and allows them to explore their interest in photography without spending a huge sum of money if they end up moving on to some other interest in a few weeks times. This camera offers alot of handy features for the money and over all produces quality photos.
I am curious to see if the lens motor lasts and if the plastic body will fair well with the two girls using it. The color(red)is rich and the sleek body is not bad even if the grip points are a little understated. The camera is a good size and weight for packing with you and it has many high quality features built in. Over all if it performs up at 80% of the manufacturers hype it would be a good camera for the money. If it actually is out of the park performance wise than it will merit a 5 star rating.

A nice camera for casual shooting. Has many useful features for advanced users who know how to adjust for different conditions. A steady hand is required for such a small light weight camera. While being that size, it is very portable. The large LCD is definitely an asset for all purposes. The batteries can be purchased anywhere since they are not "camera specific" or OEM. The included software is easy to use. For a good camera at a low price, this is all most people will ever need

We bought the L18 for a simple carrying, go everywhere, camera. It is excellent for snap shots of friends and family and simple in operation. The only down side is that the SD card is housed in the battery compartment making card usage awkward. It does have some internal memory but it is often insufficient.

After doing extensive research online in a variety of price ranges I chose this camera. It has a big screen, 8 megapixels and Nikon a a great brand. I love it so far, the menus are not difficult to navigate. I also bought a waterproof camera case since I live at the beach. SO far so good!

I bought this for my daughters birthday and am very pleased. She unfortunately has a history of losing electronic devices so I wasn't going to break the bank on this purchase - but am extremely happy with the functionality, quality and picture quality of this camera, and the price didn't hurt.

Comments about Nikon Coolpix L18 Digital Camera (Ruby Red):
A small cheep little camera that does what I got it for. Of course you cant expect the same preformance as my Nikon D3 but thats not why I got it. The L18 is small red and looks great! Would absolutely recommend this camera to other people. I guess the camera is weakest in bad lights and also the flash in the camera isnt to good. But still its what I expect from a cheep little camera like this!
Its great to bring to the party, and any time you are going out. You can always bring it with you and as said! I really recommend this camera to anyone who wants a small good little partycamera!
