The 160GB 2.5" Scorpio Portable IDE Hard Drive from Western Digital is a high-capacity internal drive designed for use in laptop computers. Boasting a PATA interface that allows for sustained transfer rates of up to 52.6MB/sec, a large 8MB data buffer and a rotation speed of 5400rpm, this drive is an excellent solution for adding storage capacity to your notbeook.

I purchased this WD 160GB drive to upgrade from my laptop's 40GB drive. The drive I received from B&H gave me a number of problems during the Windows OS reinstallation process and eventually failed completely (issued a drive read error message and stopped responding). Western Digital exchanged the defective drive for a new drive without delay, and my laptop is now up and running fine.
I immediately noticed how remarkably quiet the WD drive is compared to the old OEM 40GB drive. There is a noticeable speed improvement as well. If this drive stays healthy, I will be extremely satisfied with the performance increase it has provided.
Perhaps my experience with the defective drive is rare... I don't know. However, Western Digital's response to the issue was exemplary!

This was a replacement for a Toshiba 60gig IDE Hd. IDE hard drives are becoming a thing of the past and there are less and less choices for replacements. Thankfully Western Digital hasn't turned their back on these antiques and they certainly haven't starved them of new innovation technologies. Hats off to B&H for carrying these high quality IDE HD's and offering them at a very low price compared to other companies on the net. My computer is much more efficient now and seems to run much faster. This was a very easy product to install and I high recommend the purchase this brand to anyone looking to upgrade to a bigger HD or just a equal replacement. Thanks
