Bluetooth printing requires separate BU-30 adapter
Rugged, powerful and portable, the Canon Pixma iP100 Photo Printer is a versatile mobile printer that delivers exceptional performance at home or on the road. Its patented print head technology and 5-color ink system let you create spectacular photos with impressive detail and clarity, while providing exceptional quality for all of your business documents from cover letters to full color presentations. The Canon Pixma iP100 Photo Printer is also fast - with print speeds of up to 20 pages per minute (ppm) for black and up to 14 ppm for color. You can also produce borderless prints, with stunning edge-to-edge quality and razor-sharp detail - and in only about 50 seconds, you can print a 4" x 6" photo with the look and feel of a traditional photograph.
The printer includes the Canon exclusive Auto Image Fix feature that helps you produce amazing results on all your photos. First, it categorizes your images into one of five types - Portrait, Scenery, Night Scenery, Snapshot with Scenery, and Snapshot with Night Scenery - then it applies optimal image correction accordingly. For further convenience, you can connect any PictBridge compatible digital camera or DV camcorder directly to the iP100 printer and print photos-no PC required.
The Canon Pixma iP100 is also a Green Product, applying a number of Canon's Generation Green characteristics. There are printing options such as 4-in-1 & 2-in-1 printing that allow users to place multiple pages on 1 page, saving up to 75% of your paper supply. The Ink Saver Mode allows you to use less ink when printing in order to make your ink supply last longer and reduce the number of wasted ink cartridges. (Note: This may affect the quality of photo printing.), The Pixma iP100 is ENERGY STAR compliant with an Auto Power On/Off feature and RoHS Compliant, and Recycled Plastics are used in the printer wherever possible.
The lightweight Canon PIXMA iP100 Mobile Printer fits easily onto a desk with limited space or into a carry-on, making it the perfect laptop companion for business or personal travel, and it offers a number of features and accessories that make it easier to conduct business outside of the office. It provides IrDA compatibility and an optional BU-30 Bluetooth interface, so you can print wirelessly from a PC, PDA or camera phone. There is also an optional LK-62 Lithium Ion battery with an approximate 290 page life per charge, and mobile professionals on-the-go will especially appreciate the optional Automobile Power Unit (PU-200U) to power the PIXMA iP100 Mobile Printer directly through a car power socket.

Like many people, the space in my home office is limited. So my reason for choosing a "portable" printer was simply the smaller footprint in my home office. When you go shopping for printers these days, most of the popular products are "all-in-ones" that integrate the printer with a scanner and even fax machine. But I didn't want one of those, because I already have a separate scanner that I use occasionally, and again because of the footprint. Another consideration for me was that I anticipate moving again in another year or so, and even though a printer is only one item, the small and lighter that each item is, the better. These are all reasons why I am presently using a notebook computer (a MacBook Pro) for my home computer. Once I had decided on a portable printer, the choices were pretty much limited to the Canon and the similar printer by HP, but the user reviews consistently favored the Canon. Having been a consumer of Canon products for many years, I know from experience that they take pride in the quality of their products. Installing any printer these days is pretty much a walk in the park, and unless you are looking to get professional grade results from color prints, there isn't much difference in quality either. The speed of printing was more than adequate for my needs, and I just couldn't find any reason to hesitate to buy this printer. The only question was whether I was willing to pay more to get something more compact and lighter in weight. I have discovered that I really, really like having this small, compact printer sitting on the small table next to my computer, and not some great big all-in-one, or even a large conventional desktop printer. The extra money was well spent in my view. No regrets, although I should mention that I have not yet owned it long enough to have a sense for what the ongoing cost of ink is going to be.

I went with the Canon over the HP because the Canon was smaller and lighter by almost 1lb. So far I do like it, the speed is faster than expected for a portable printer. One bad thing i noticed is when printing gridlines on an excel spreadsheet, the vertical lines appear jagged. after closer inspection i noticed some of the words suffered from the same problem. Overall for a portable printer i would most likely go with this option again due to the size and weight factor. I travel quite often and needed something quick and easy for the road. I would not recommend this to someone for their primary printer at home.

This printer we use for printing pictures for a hospital department. The size certainly is a plus in crowded areas and works well used with a mobile laptop. Also, the printer is very easy to install and setup.

I mainly use the printer for craft work. The color is excellent and it's very easy to use. It's lightweight so it can be carried and set up where ever you are working. Small size, but still able to print an 8 1/2 x 10 piece of paper if needed. A sturdy printer as well. I'm very happy with all aspects of this printer.

Small, compact and easy to travel with. Wish it had a bag/sleeve - I have scratched it up somewhat in travel. Pricey for what it is.
Laptop does not always recognize the printer. At times it runs a series of clicks and whurs for about 30 secs before deciding to print - annoying when you are in a rush. When it does print it runs fast.
