The Casio Exilim EX-S10 Digital Camera provides 10.1 megapixels of resolution with a 3x optical zoom that is equal to 36 - 108mm in 35mm terms and incorporates the cutting-edge EXILIM Engine 2.0 image processing module - all in an incredibly slim camera that exhibits an excellent balance of superior functionality and stylish compact design.
The camera also features a blur reduction function that uses motion analysis technology, an auto-tracking AF system, and face detection technology. There is also a Rapid Flash function, which enables three consecutive high speed flash photos in only one second, allowing you to completely capture the moment without losing precious seconds between shots.
The Exilim EX-S10 Digital Camera includes the unique YouTube Capture mode that records video clips in the web and iPod-friendly H.264 file format. It also has bundled software to provide ideal settings for recording, storing and uploading video. Furthermore, Casio has also included an exclusive software application that makes it seamless to upload movies to YouTube, and will also allow users to upload multiple videos at once, making it easier than ever before to share original content online.

- The CCD Image sensor of the Exilim EX-S10 supplies a rich 10.1 million pixels of full color brilliance and focus. Such high resolution photos give you the advantage that you can print them out in excellent quality or edit them on the computer. This means that enlargement of details and poster size photos are possible.
- 3x Optical Zoom Lens
- Though the EX-S10 is as slim as your little finger, it still features a 3x optical zoom lens so you can capture the details of your scene or get a tight close up.
- Ultra-bright 2.7" Wide-Screen Display
- The EX-S10 features an ultra-bright Super Clear LCD display that measures 2.7" and has 230,000 pixels of resolution - enabling viewing from almost any angle. The LCD display also delivers unusually high contrast, giving you a particularly clear and crisp view of your subjects. Plus the display has adjustable brightness (5 settings).
- Exilim Engine 2.0
- The extremely powerful Exilim Engine 2.0 combines multiple components in a compact space, provodes for fast camera operation, and saves energy. The image processor also has sufficient capacity for the Advanced Auto Tracking AF function, hue adjustment to optimize dark areas, targeted noise elimination in critical color areas and quicker image processing.
- Intuitive Interface
- The EX-S10 can easily be operated with just one hand (Use your thumb to navigate the menus and your index finger for the release button and zoom) plus the arrangement of the operation panel on the display is particularly clear and enables the user to move quickly between the various adjustment features.
- Best Shot Scene Modes
- The camera's Best Shot scene modes enable selection of the appropriate camera setting for still photos via an easy to understand sample image menu, so you'll be able to take beautiful pictures, regardless of the shooting situation or your particular photography expertise. Simply select the sample scene that resembles the type of image you are trying to record and the camera is configured automatically with the applicable recording mode, Auto Focus setting, and more.
- Face Detection and Auto-tracking AF
- The auto-tracking AF system uses motion analysis technology to maintain both sharp focus and correct exposure for a human face, and the combination of face detection technology and the auto-tracking AF system ensures that, once the focus locks on to a person's face, it will stay sharp and maintain the right exposure, even if the person moves; thereby making it much easier to capture beautiful portraits.
- Enhanced Quick Responsiveness
- Once powered on, the camera is ready to take pictures in approximately 1 second, and after the shutter is snapped, pictures are taken almost instantly, with only 0.008 second release time lag. The "Direct On" buttons allow quick startup of both shooting and viewing modes, and the camera also has High-speed image viewing at approximately 0.1 seconds intervals.
- Powerful Fast Flash
- The Built-in flash has a "Rapid Flash" feature that enables three consecutive flash photos in one second, while the "Soft Flash" function reduces flash brightness when taking close-up flash photos. Furthermore, the "Flash Assist" mode compensates for poorly illuminated areas of the shot.
- Movie Mode and Audio Record
- The EX-S10 is able to record movies with sound at broadcast quality using the MPEG-4 H.264 standard that provides an increased compression ratio allowing users to record longer clips without having to sacrifice the quality of their movies, and can continue recording as long as there is memory available. The camera can also produce an audio snapshot (with audio recorded at the same time as the image or added later), and is equipped with a Voice Recorder feature.
- YouTube Capture Mode
- The YouTube capture mode records in next-generation MPEG-4 H.264 high quality video format, and an exclusive software application is included that makes it seamless to upload movies to YouTube in as few as two steps. This technology will also allow users to upload multiple videos at once, making it easier than ever before to share original content online. In addition the camera also includes an eBay Best Shot Mode that takes photos at a size that is image optimized for display on eBay, and for ease of use, the eBay photos are stored in a special eBay directory.
- Built-in and Expandable Memory
- The EX-S10 has 11.8 MB of internal memory so you can start shooting immediately. The storage capacity can also be greatly expanded with a Secure Digital (SD), Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) or MultiMediaCard (MMC), so you can save large numbers of photos and record movies in excess of an hour or more in duration.
- Super-Life Battery
- The EX-S10 is extremely efficient in its power usage and includes a high capacity NP-20 Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery which provides so much power, that the camera is ready for use at that decisive moment and takes up to 190 shots on a full charge.
- Direct Print Capable
- The EX-S10 supports PictBridge Direct printing so you can print out beautiful images without the need of a computer. Just connect the camera to a PictBrige compatible printer and print your favorite pictures the way you want them - it is that easy.
- Data Storage Function
- The included Data Transport software enables computer data - including Word documents, Excel tables, PowerPoint presentations, websites and any other type of printable data - to be automatically converted to JPEG format and transferred to the camera. For instance, tourist attractions and maps that users have looked up on the internet can be viewed on the camera's LCD, eliminating the need to carry around a guidebook. The camera also includes Photo Transport for transferring stored photos in a PC to the camera, thereby turning your camera into a mobile photo album.

This is a great camera. I purchased it for going out at night, too clubs, parties and other social functions. Its great for that. It fits perfectly in my pocket and is ready at the push of a button. I know a little about photography and it has all the bells and whistles that my SRL has. It really allows me to play with the setings and get the best shot possible.

Just bought the worlds thinnest camera* (* as of jan 8th!) and am really pleased. I use a camera just to put in my pocket and take pictures of people and things I see that I like, so this camera is perfect. Its very, very slim and small. My choice was between a leica and this - but I think if your going to get a leica, you should go SLR - if its just a simple camera to carry round, this is ideal.
I was not sure about casio as a brand but when I took some pictures I was impressed.
The pictures I've taken so far came out really nice, clear, bright and good quality when I transferred to my computer. The LCD is huge for the size of the camera.
Drawbacks I would say are that you cannot fool around with this camera - if does not feel THAT sturdy but its fine for normal use. note to self: do not take out when consuming more than 4 units of alcohol! :) Also, low lighting pictures dont look fantastic on the LCD (a little grainy, but when on a p.c they look fine!)
Set up was very easy and very simple to get used to! Highly recommend!
