Comments about Yamaha PSR-E413 - 61-Note Portable Keyboard:
We purchased it for my 6year old to learn music, but me and my wife ended up learning with my Son. Initially I was not sure on spening $200+ without knowing if we will use it, but it turned out to be a great buy.PSR-E413 has got all you need to learn a keyboard, if you plan to switch to a normal Piano also this will help you in the migration. If you check on keyboards a standard starting price is about $150, I would suggest to buy PSR-E413 instead or the new PSR-E423 the new release in this series. It is very good for home use, it is bit heavy to carry on the roads always. Once a while is good to carry with you.

This is a wonderful instrument. Sound is incredible. This is not a toy. As a entry level keyboard the 413 can't be beat, and as professional second you may be amazed at what's here for the money.

Comments about Yamaha PSR-E413 - 61-Note Portable Keyboard:
I am just learning the piano at age 65 and own a piano, but I like having the earphone feature so I don't bother anyone, and the voices, songs and styles are a lot of fun.
Survival kit B is not so hot, but it was included in the price of the PSR-E413 so I can't complain about free stuff.

Comments about Yamaha PSR-E413 - 61-Note Portable Keyboard:
Aside from just playing for fun and experimenting, I got this keyboard for recording accompaniment with guitar/vocals.
Pros:
The quality for many of the sounds and sound effects is excellent. The drum kit sounds are very cool. There are many great features for endless experimentation. The buttons/knobs are well-made and laid out.
Cons:
In my opinion, with the built-in speaker, there could be more volume for some of the sounds, particularly the default grand piano sound. Even maxed out, it's not very loud.
Some of the string instrument sounds are just ok.
It does not come with an AC power adapter, which is kinda ridiculous.

While this is my first keyboard, and I am by no means an expert, I am throughly enjoying this keyboard. I have much to learn and it is going to provide me will all the tools I will need. The quality of sound from the speakers is excellent and even more so, from an external amp. An excellent product[...]

Comments about Yamaha PSR-E413 - 61-Note Portable Keyboard:
The myriad of features of this electronic piano are bedazzling, and I expect it will take many hours of enjoyment to tap into them all! The sound output could have more umph, but remember, its a portable. I'm trying to find an amplifier to connect through the head-phone jack! The Digital Music Notebook should be an incredible help to solve alot of learning problems. Would have gotten another star if it was easier to switch between the head-phones and piano amp. The pricing was unbeatable [...]

Comments about Yamaha PSR-E413 - 61-Note Portable Keyboard:
I've played guitar 30+ years and decided to learn keyboards to expand my musical expression. What I really liked about this keyboard is, that it has 30 songs internal to they keyboard, and the ease of using the lessons to get you pounding out songs in no time. I've had mine now for 3 weeks, and with about 1-2 hours a day of practice, can actually play songs that other's might recognize. This keyboard does not have weighted keys, however when you strike a key, it does not feel cheap. I think it has a nice feel to it. Also the volume of keys struck changes, if you hit a key hard, it's loud, hit a key soft, and the volume of that key is softer. I was quite amazed at all the functions of this keyboard, and after reading the manual, have no real problems selecting what I want to do. It has a ton of features, more of which I hope to explore in the coming months. Really enjoyable to play/learn with.

I used to play the piano when I was a child, although not very well. Now that I'm 57 years old, I decided to resume playing just for the fun of it. This keyboard is the answer for me. It sounds great and has a lot of high tech features.

Comments about Yamaha PSR-E413 - 61-Note Portable Keyboard:
I use this everyday in my home studio.
A great selection of good sounding samples complete with six track sequencer. So many built in features like metronome, split keyboard and layered sounds.
Just like the big workstations at one fifth the cost. How does Yamaha do it and still make money? Don't forget the built in education suite and the USB connectivity to your computer. Three days later there are still buttons I'm learning about.
If there must be a complaint it is not enough voices of each type. Also, no midi output/input jacks. Why assume that USB is the end all? But, for this price range, who is counting? It would be nice if one could save songs recorded on the sequencer to a thumb drive. I'm sure these things would up the price.
All in all a good board to learn on to hone one's skills. You might find you don't need a high priced board after all.
Yamaha rocks!
