Comments about JBL ES20B 3-Way Bookshelf Speaker (Black, Pair):
I use these for my surround speakers but I had them hooked up to my front channels for a few days and they really sounded fantastic. Good quality 3 way sound and surprising low end response. Now that I've mounted them on the ceiling and walls in my surround system, barring some sort of catastrophe, I would expect them to be the last speakers I'll ever buy. Solid construction, attractive, pleasing to the eye design, crystal clear sound reproduction, wide frequency response. In confidence, I can recommend these speakers for whatever you plan to use them for but don't put them outside!

Have them hooked up as main left and right for a small room...they do need a sub to get the lowbut they are poweful little speakers...enjoy the sound and no real complaints other than making me want to get a sub.
Comments about JBL ES20B 3-Way Bookshelf Speaker (Black, Pair):
Purchased these a few weeks ago to upgrade the back speakers in my 7.1 surround system.
Since my other 5 speakers (1 center, 2 front L/R speakers, 2 side L/R surround speakers) are JBL (and, note, my subwoofer is not a JBL, but I don't find any matching problem with low frequency sounds), I decided to stay with JBL for upgrading my older (and smaller) back speakers (which were also JBL, but just too small). I do enjoy the upgrade in surround volume that these speakers add to my total surround system.
Good speakers cost way too much! But, these were a bargain considering the high prices of others. I'm very happy with these. I would not recommend them for the main speakers (for a large room), as I would suggest (at least) the next step up in size for front speakers.
