Autofocus is supported only with AF-S and AF-I CPU lenses, which are equipped with an autofocus motor
The Nikon D60 SLR Digital Camera has been designed for the consumer who wants to combine top technology with user-friendliness and creative features. The D60 provides a resolution of 10.2 effective Megapixels, and incorporates Nikon's exclusive EXPEED image-processing concept, which is utilized to maximize image quality and processing speed - resulting in continuous shooting capability at 3.0 fps, near instant power-up at just 0.19 seconds and high ISO sensitivity, all in a compact, lightweight body with a user-friendly ergonomic design.
A common problem with SLR digital cameras is the accumulation of dust in the camera's image box that can be introduced into the camera body when changing lenses, leading to distracting spots on your images. To combat this potential problem, the D60 includes an integrated dust reduction system which consists of an Airflow Control System that channels dust out of the image path and a vibrating, self-cleaning sensor unit shakes off any remaining dust from the camera's image sensor.
The D60 is capable of use in a range of lighting conditions resulting from a wide sensitivity range of ISO 100 to ISO 1600 and offers vivid color reproduction with clear, sharp results. The camera's built-in Speedlight produces excellent balanced results thanks to Nikon's sophisticated i-TTL flash system, and also allows the use of additional remote-controlled Speedlights via a TTL Hot Shoe. For convenient use in places where flash photography is not allowed, the camera will set the sensitivity automatically for the best results.
The Nikon D60 is designed to simplify camera operation with a user-friendly design that includes a reduced number of buttons to allow the photographer to concentrate on taking pictures. The camera also offers creative features that are designed to allow the optimization and adjustment of images without the need for a computer. Image optimization is achieved through functions like Active D-Lighting (which compensates for strong shadows), and the automatic correction of false eye color when using the built-in flash. Additional creative features include the automated creation of stop-motion animation files from a sequence of images, and effects that simulate the use of optical filters to produce color shading and sparkling highlights.
The 2.5-inch LCD screen on the back of the D60 presents information using an easy to understand graphic user interface, with a choice of three types of presentation style to suit all users. The camera also incorporates a built-in orientation sensor so that the symbols and numbers in the display can be rotated through 90 degrees to present information in the correct orientation according to how the camera is being held, and the D60 includes a sensor that turns off the LCD monitor screen automatically when the viewfinder is raised to the photographer's eye - thereby saving power and preventing any visual distraction when shooting with the viewfinder.

Comments about Nikon D60 SLR Digital Camera Kit with 18-55mm VR Lens & 55-200mm VR Lens:
I use my Nikon D60 for personal use - family photos, travel photos, and such. I also use it for photojournalism at work. It is a reasonably priced, good quality camera that takes great photos.
I love the fact that it is an SLR and that it has a relatively fast shuuter speed.

Comments about Nikon D60 SLR Digital Camera Kit with 18-55mm VR Lens & 55-200mm VR Lens:
This is an amazing camera. You have got to try more possibilities than the usual to appreciate it. I was used to a Canon SLR and found the Nikon D60 as friendly as my non-digital SLR but with immediate digital results. The set of VR lenses it comes with are easily interchangeable. Auto-focus is great even in darkness. The battery holds a lot more than I have expected. It was great with fast sports, shooting my son Judo drills in action, with the 55-200 lens that I could only dream about with my old Coolpix camera. Even the ViewNX and Nikon Transfer software that comes with it, are great improvement on the Nikon View 6, I had before.
Con: None that I can think off.

Comments about Nikon D60 SLR Digital Camera Kit with 18-55mm VR Lens & 55-200mm VR Lens:
I really like this camera. It is the first DSLR that I've owned, but have several other Nikon "prosumer" cameras. I must have researched DSLR's for months before I made my final decision to buy the Nikon D60. It was in the price range that I wanted to pay with more features than many of the other brands at higher prices. The menu is fairly intuitive and it didn't take but a few minutes of playing with it before being able to start taking pictures. It feels very durable to me, and not too heavy. I can't say anything negative about this camera as of yet.

Comments about Nikon D60 SLR Digital Camera Kit with 18-55mm VR Lens & 55-200mm VR Lens:
I am so happy I purchased the Nikon D60. I have 2 lenses and they both are VR (vibration reduction). I don't even need a tripod with the VR. The lenses that I purchased with the camera kit are autofocus and manual. I had a hard time adjusting to the 55-200 lense with the autofocus but switched to manual setting on the lense and got the photo I wanted. I am extreemly impressed with the sports mode. I have some awesome shots of my little boys playing football. It's like having fast speed film at the turn of your finger. My football shots of my boys running are so clear. I am so happy I purchased the Nikon D60.

After being a point and shooter for about 6 years, I was glad to make the SLR plunge again, I had reservations going with the lower end D60 as my current film cameras included a F3hp, and two M Leica's, but reservations aside this is very nicely done plastic. I didn't want anything larger or heavier. I also have an older Canon G7 which is very good but picture quality isn't there IMO. I adapted an Eagle Creek Vagabond with a Domke FA-220 insert which holds the lens and camera with other lens(lens down) Very light and the bag still has lots of room left. [...]Couldn't be happier.

Comments about Nikon D60 SLR Digital Camera Kit with 18-55mm VR Lens & 55-200mm VR Lens:
I'm an advanced Photography Major and just bought my D60 two months ago and I'm loving digital already.
first the two cons I have, to use a flash unit off the camera like with the sb600 you need a sync cord you cannot use it wirelessly, but then for most of us were not doing that anyway as a student I experiment a lot with diffrent settings, I also shoot mostly manually and on RAW-Basic here is the other con when shooting RAW in multiple shot mode at 3FPS the camera will lock up until the buffer transfers to the SD, but for a lighwieght camera I can handle that if I'm shooting multiple shots I switch to Jpeg normal or Jpeg fine and I can shoot to my hearts content
I ride a motorcycle and carry all my gear in a backpack so its small size and weight are a plus for me as for the 10mp since I do work for magazines and papers 10mp is more than I need. I have taken close to 3000 images so far, maybe more I don't really keep count but I did take close to 700 images during a recent motorcycle race filling up three 2gb sd cards. three things to have
-backpack/sling bag the standard bag is too small
- circular polarizer filter great for water shots
-Armor case for the body and it comes with a protector for the LCD only 40 bucks but well worth it and gives a solid feel to the camera.
all in all a good camera set for the money

I am very impressed with this camera, it is great for a beginner like myself. The VR lenses are very helpful for shooting handheld. While I have a lot to learn, it has been very easy getting started. So far I have mostly photographed my children and their activities. Captures motion very well and the image quality is amazing. I am looking forward to growing into the full potential of this camera. THANK YOU NIKON AND B&H!!!

I use this camera to photograph family events and school activities. I am never disappointed by the quality of the photographs that I take. This camera takes awesome pictures with no flash in a school auditorium - they come out wonderfully, just as if you were on stage, too. I would recommend this camera & lens kit to anyone. It's easy to use and budget friendly. A++++++++!!!

I bought it for this year's vacation. It made a lot of great pictures which are totally different from the regular point and shoot camera. The flash that come with the camera also let you have good photos at night scene. But you must have the tripod if you want a good photo especially with flash.

I bought this camera package for my wife. She likes it so far - still learning. Lens construction a little cheap - but for the price picture quality very good. I have a D80 and I like screen / custom features access on the back of the D60 big improvement over D80 faster and easier to access custom controls.

This is a fantastic camera and lens combination. I mastered it quickly and taken some professional quality photos both indoors & outdoors. The operation of the camera, lenses & menus are intuitive and easily learned. The Vibration Reduction feature permitted great, sharp photos in low light at a concert and also of some bald birds flying at a good distance from the camera. The 10 megapixel size permitted zooming & cropping and still getting great quality pictures. It feels comfortable in our hands - better than any other DSLR's we tried

Comments about Nikon D60 SLR Digital Camera Kit with 18-55mm VR Lens & 55-200mm VR Lens:
College photo: Great camera overall, easy quick access to get to functions needed for quick photography needs. Comfortable for hands & decent light weight when shooting hours a day. Definitely need to step up in higher quality lens. Save in raw images is best. Traveled with it a couples times, my bag for it is heavy with all the lenses and other equipment, so it wasn't too fun lugging it around so switched over to backback camera bag made things easier. Had the camera for about 8 months and taken over 2000 pics and still works and looks like new! I switched from Canon just cause they seem to only last at most 2 yrs before problems begin to occur...my fingers are crossed Nikon lasts a lot longer. If not, and due to expense, I may just stick with 35mm cameras where you get about a lifetime of use out of before problems occur in pro cameras.

Comments about Nikon D60 SLR Digital Camera Kit with 18-55mm VR Lens & 55-200mm VR Lens:
I love this camera. I'm still new to this format, but the pictures I've taken so far have been outstanding for the most part. I wish I could have purchased a single lens with capabilities up to 300mm so I didn't have to switch lenses depending on my subject. Money was too big of a factor for that. There is a noticable lag between depressing the photo button and the actual shot you get.

Comments about Nikon D60 SLR Digital Camera Kit with 18-55mm VR Lens & 55-200mm VR Lens:
Its a great camera and takes good pictures. Image stabilization is not as good as some point and shoots. The kit lenses that come with this camera are 52mm diameter opening! They should both have been 62 or bigger. Lets in more light! They are made in Thialand. One part was made in china! Bit everything is now days. bit seems to be nice. The ring around the front of the lens is some cheap soft metal. You can dent it with your fingernail! Its very [*] quality. Be careful. And don't let any clumsy heavy handed careless younger or older person handle the lense cap if its on the lens. My friend practicaly ripped the lens cap off and lightly scared the previously mentioned metal ring around the front of the lens glass.! For the money I am ticked! If I spent 600 to 700 dollars then I would appreciate some extra grams of weight for a few pennies of some mid grade painted steel or other hard to bend material! I wish for the money that they would package a 18-105 lens with a 62mm diameter. The lenses are not suited for low light condition at all. But takes great pictures! The body is nice and controls are pretty easy to figure out with a little help from a friend with a little experience and reading the instruction book. Maybe a 18-270 Tamron or 18-300 Nikon lens with af and image stabilization would be all anyone would need if your not a professional.

Comments about Nikon D60 SLR Digital Camera Kit with 18-55mm VR Lens & 55-200mm VR Lens:
I am so slow and low tech that this is going to take a while, but even I easily figured out the quick start instructions. ( I should mention that I am a notorious instruction manual non-reader) That has given me enough self confidence that I'm ready for the real user manual and the DVD's. Both are easy to follow and can be reviewed while holding the camera. I have a lot to learn, but with help from my husband and the instructions am looking forward to many fabulous shots.
