I use this on daily basis...it always brings all,my Dvd's,cd's and tv to life.
You can't go wrong with any onkyo product.
I would recomend this to family, friends and even people I didn't like.
Great price and quality, easy set up and intuitive remote control.
My last several recievers have been onkyo and all of them still work, one in the office, one in the Bedroom & the oldest (20 years plus) in the garage.

Comments about Onkyo TX-SR506B Home Theater Receiver (Black):
The unit has an excellent balance of features for the price, and the sound is excellent. Onkyo has a reputation of using top quality components in the amplifier chain, and this inexpensive unit is no exception. My only complaint is the heat this unit puts out. I've owned many a receiver in my lifetime and this is the hottest by far. To me, heat = inefficiency. It does limit my considerations for placing in a cabinet. And the remote is clunky. To those who complain about the lack of inputs, for shame! This unit has way more bang for buck than any I've seen.

Ordered this receiver to replace a "sleeping" Akai one that would rarely awake. After seeing this model as a Consumer Reports selection, found a great buy on it here [...]It performs great and with cheapo rabbit ears picks up fringe area FM stations handily.

Comments about Onkyo TX-SR506B Home Theater Receiver (Black):
I used the product to hook up to my Samsung HD television, satellite receiver, and Sony blu-ray player, and two speakers from the 80s.I don't own a subwoofer. Simple to hook up. Only thing not great is on the remote, you just have to remember to push one button before another. Overall, this is a great product and I would recommend to a friend.

Comments about Onkyo TX-SR506B Home Theater Receiver (Black):
I bought this receiver as a Christmas gift for my parents. So far everything seems to be working fine. The sound quality is fantastic and there are plenty of inputs for whatever equipment they get in the future. I'm a little disapointed inthe remote, as you have to put it back in "receiver" mode whenever you select a different input. I suppose this was done as a convenience so you can control a device the moment you select it. My parents find this quite confusing. Other than that this is a tremendous value.

Comments about Onkyo TX-SR506B Home Theater Receiver (Black):
[...] I like that. This receiver is super easy to set up especially when using the Audysses EQ mic. Just be quiet ! Lots of clean power. Many inputs for my simple theater setup. Lots of choices for surround. Quality build. The only warning is that this receiver does not pass audio along with video on HDMI. If connecting a dvd player via HDMI, you must use additional connection for audio. Other than that, this is a great deal for those with a rather simple theater setup with 4-5 components. Don't hesitate if this is in your price range.

Comments about Onkyo TX-SR506B Home Theater Receiver (Black):
Like other reviews on here, I am very impressed with this receiver. I am not a total audiophile, so the automatic set up was my favorite feature. It really brought the sound out of my speakers which I probably would not have taken the time to do if the set up was only manual. Plenty of power for my 16x16 room. The remote is programmable, but like others it is a bit cumbersome to use for all of your equipment. Nice to have as an extra, but I still use all of the original remotes. Nice display and plenty of connections for my HDMI TV, Satellite, and DVD player. Great amp for the money.

Comments about Onkyo TX-SR506B Home Theater Receiver (Black):
Overall, it's a great product. This has many features that you must pay for in top quality receivers. This receiver replaced a model from 2001. Back then I couldn't afford having DTS-ES or Dolby Digital EX standard. Some models back then cost in upwards of $3,800. How times have changed. This TX-SR506 has the ability to create balanced sound thanks to the set up with Audyssey. The sound is warm and inviting. I have 7.1 speakers set up and even though this is a budget model, it doesn't bring budget sound. What an upgrade. Even though I did buy one that has DTS-Master Audio HD or Dolby HD Audio, I am completely happy with this product. Set up was fairly easy, but you may need to reference the manual. Have have played DTS-ES 6.1 matrix and discrete audio DVD's and Blu-Ray material. Blu-Ray material was output using x.v.Color at 24fps at 1920 x 1080 progressive scan. Please note that the audio is passed through the receiver to the TV for audio output. This model only handles the video portion. It's not a big deal to me. I still use fiber optic. I prefer this. Also, if you would like a source for high quality cables are a fair price, google monoprice and you'll see what I'm talking about. Over all, I really love this receiver and I know this will be the first of many purchases I make from Onkyo. They are higher end products and you won't be let down. Like they say, This is what "intuitive" sounds like.

I thought the reciever was very easy to set up. It sounds great and I love the fact that it can adjust the balance and level of the speakers itself. Only dissapointment was to find out during setup that the audio to the sound system could not be done through the HDMI cable.

Apparently receiver technology has advanced in the last 10 years. I am very pleased with the performance of this receiver that I bought to replace an old Sony that died after 10 years.
The sound is great and teh set up was easy and it worked.
