The Epoque EL-120 HID is a 12W HID video light that provides a clean and natural light source. The light provides the underwater videographer with even lighting coverage and a constant output light temperature. The 12W HID metal halide lamp produces a bright 7000° K natural light which is needed to bring out the true natural colors of the underwater world. If you want to warm the ligt up to 6000° K you could use the optional color-correction filter. The compact light has the battery compartment inside the head and is constructed of ABS plastic and aluminum.
HID lamps are two to three times brighter then halogen lamps. Lights are extremely important for your underwater imaging system. The ocean is one big, blue filter. As you descend, the reds and oranges quickly become muted shades of blue and gray. Shining a color corrected light source on your subject will bring back your subjects' natural color.

Comments about Epoque EL-120 HID Light 12W Underwater HID Light:
I used to have the previous model & when it finally expired after 10 years of use I had to step up to the latest model. & I'm glad I did. Great colour temperature & coverage. Great burn time also. Light weight & durable. Used mostly for professional underwater video work but can also be used for stills. Overall an excellent U/w light.

Comments about Epoque EL-120 HID Light 12W Underwater HID Light:
I have had several dives with Epoque light and am very impressed with the performance . Burn time allows for use during the complete dive of up to 110 minutes.
Combined with a strobe it has proved to be a great combination for my Dive photography.
I would recommend use of the Diffuser filter to spread the light more evenly
