The LumiQuest Big Bounce enlarges, redirects and softens the light in the same manner as the Ultrasoft, with even softer results.
The Big Bounce is used where a softer lighting effect is more important than "pocket size" portability (i.e. close-ups, portraits, etc.). Attaches to the flash head in seconds with the included touch fastener tabs.

I would give this a five-star rating if it were just based on its ability to modify the light. I love the soft diffused effect that it provides.
However, because of its size, if you tilt your camera down just a little bit, the top-heavy bounce will cause the flash unit to suddenly fall forward into its "normal" position (you need to position the head vertically to attach the bounce).
It's embarrassing when shooting at a wedding or other event to have to keep putting the bounce upright.
If you have a flash unit that can lock in the vertical position, this won't be a problem.
I'd actually give this three and a half stars but since I can't, it's closer to a four-star item than three.

BIG Soft Light
Nice soft light but eats up about 3 stops. A bit bulky & unbalanced on top of flash. Better mounting than velcro would help.

Comments about LumiQuest Big Bounce:
I bought this and the PROMAX SOFTBOX III. While they aren't for the exact same uses, I ended up using the Softbox instead of the Big Bounce simply because I couldn't get the Big Bounce to strap on my speed light and feel stable. Maybe I was doing it wrong, but the Softbox strapped right on and felt 100% stable and worked like a charm. I'm not giving up on it yet.

I used the BB for my daughter's wedding photos, and it made a big difference in the quality of light. It is big, but manageable.

Comments about LumiQuest Big Bounce:
Gives a nice soft light when bounce flash not available but bounce flash does seem to do a bit nicer job. You can still get shadows with this unit, however, especially if shooting more than one person. The unit is obviously top heavy and it does require pushing up the flash output (equivalent to 2-3 f-stops). You must use the velcro to attach it to the flash; it is too top heavy for the optional strap to work.

This is an excellent product. It is especially helpful in areas with high ceilings. The light is projected exactly where it's needed and the softness of the light prevents harsh shadows and shiny skin. Would recommend.

The materials feel a bit flimsy on the big bounce, but it works well for its size.

The previous reviewer should not have taken off stars when it wasn't the fault of the diffuser but rather this gear. If he had picked up a flash that lock in place then the problems would have been eliminated. Great diffuser and works when ceilings or walls are non-existent to bounce flash.

This works well, especially when you have no walls to bounce flash off of. I used it at an outdoor party, and it did the trick. It is big and will draw attention though. :) Easy to set up, simple installation. Compact, easy to pack. I had the smaller one before this and this one gives a broader spread of the light.

Comments about LumiQuest Big Bounce:
This unit does a really nice job of softening light relative to it's size. Obviously not as soft as a soft box or even a shoot through umbrella, however I have been thoroughly impressed with it's performance. I use in a small home studio where space is tight. I have 4 attached to 430EX IIs using the LumiQuest velcro strips. Work great. Ideal to take on the road. Everything will fit in your bag.
