The U Record from Ion Audio is a USB 1.1 computer interface that has been designed to accept the output of a turntable or cassette tape machine. The audio source can then be archived to a computer using the included USB cable and recording software for both the Mac and PC.

The system allows the user to easily convert their favorite records and tapes to MP3 format and then transfer the resulting files to an iPod or other personal media player. A built-in preamp eliminates the need to attach the turntable to a stereo system for recording. Included Audacity software reduces clicks, pops, hiss and other noises from worn recordings.

Phono/line input records from a turntable, cassette player, or any other line source
Plug and play USB connection - no drivers needed
Includes EZ Vinyl Converter software (PC) and EZ Audio Converter (Mac) for hassle-free recording
Audacity software records, edits and corrects for noisy source material (PC and Mac)

I have been wanting to convert my old LPs to digital for a long time. A friend of mine told me about the U-Record and I thought I would give it a try. It does the job great. Have no complaints yet. Would recommend it.

If you have no standards at all, then you will be fine with this product. Total distortion, horrible sound. My records are virtually unrecognizable with this primitive product.

Comments about Ion U Record - Computer Interface:

I have been looking for a simple way to convert my LPs to MP3 format for 2 to 3 years. The U Record is a cost effective device that allows LP conversion with the turntable I already own.

For capability reasons I use Audacity to capture and convert the WA> files to MP3 format. The U record interface/software uses Itunes to simplify this process.

Does what it is supposed to do - connect a tape deck or turntable to your computer via USB. It's great that it has built in pre-amp. The software included is Audacity which is free online anyway. Audacity has good help online.

Comments about Ion U Record - Computer Interface:

I have a good B&O turntable and a fairly large collection of vinyl LP records that I have saved, hoping that some day an easy way of converting them to digital would come along. Well, here it is. I took the U Record out of the box, ran the CD, plugged it in and instantly started transferring records to CDs. It is so nice to have a product that actually is easy to use because I have a very short frustration fuse. The only reason I even was aware that this product existed was because it was written up in a B&H e-newsletter. Great product. Great price.
