The product works great is simple and matches well with MAC (I did not try it with Microsoft).

The software installs quickly and after a couple of uses is easy to master. Since many of my old tapes, many over 30 yrs were worn some tracks didn't sound very good. Most of my old tapes recorded in a most acceptable way and I was satisfied. Essentially your tapes will sound as good as they do on your current sound system.

I had some old conversations on cassette tape. These were my father talking about our family history. When he died I found these tapes and needed to get them converted to a digital format. The ION unit did the job. Is it the sturdiest feeling unit? Probably not. But for the money, it did exactly what it was supposed to do. I thought the software, EZ Tape Converter, was easy to install and very easy to use. I would recommend this unit as a practical way to convert old cassettes to MP3. Ive only had the unit for a couple weeks so its possible the unit will die tomorrow but it did convert all of my tapes as I needed.

Unit did exactly what I wanted...provided a way to rip my old casette tapes to the PC as MP3s (similar to the way I converted all of my LPs several years ago). Unit worked great, better and easier than expected, for the first 7 tapes...then the recording head on the unit went belly up. With ION's tech support, I was able to confirm that it was a unit problem and not something in my computer settings. Called B&H, their customer service folks were great, sent the unit back, and am now waiting for a replacement. Hopefully this was an exception, and not a rule...we'll see

I am so pleased with this product. It does the job it was meant to do.
I used the software that I have used for years because I am so familiar with it, but I'm sure the included software is fine.
I now can listen to the cassette music that is no longer available anywhere in any form on my IPad, IPad, and IPhone. Wow!

I am using this converter to transfer tapes to mp3 on iTunes. The player is basic and easy to set up. The software is very basic. You still need software capable of cleaning up the quality of recording if your tapes are full of noise.

I am plesed to be invited for comments, to be able to air my views about this product. I received everything in good order, thanks. The recorder/player works OK (sofar; I have not run it much)but the softwear does not function at all! I can hear the player in the computer until I plug in the USB connector. Then I hear only distorted noise. I set everything on my PC (Vista) as instructed, checking it several times, to no avail! When I pull out the USB plug, I can hear the tape playing again. I wonder, what I did wrong, if anything. Perhaps someone can help me? If it ever works, I'll be able to give u a better comment, that I am willing to do.

I have started to convert tapes to my iTunes which will convert to aiff as well. I noticed that the right cassette player converted the cassette from the 1980's a lot better. Needless to say, I will be able to sweeten the audio in post. I have been pleased so far with the conversion process.

I have NUMEROUS "tapes" dating back MANY decades, in fact, MANY more than I wish had passed. This instrument allows me to be able to RECORD those tapes, and play them, in my vehicle, on my computer(s), and on ANY MP3 player, such that I so desire to do. Unless you have only 1 or 2 tapes, which I sincerely doubt, as most of us have many DOZENS, this is an indispensible object to be without! YOU (and "I") paid MANY HUNDREDS of dollars to own this/said music, yet NOW, it can't (or won't) be played or heard. You can't find a BETTER DEAL than to order this item right NOW, and upon receipt, CONVERT all of your non-playing and never listened to favorite tunes into some that you CAN still enjoy. If you find it/such to be cheaper elsewhere, go for it - [...] ENJOY YOUR LISTENING ! Heck, I am still recording many of MY old tapes and music!

As I hoped, it was very easy to set up and get going. I wish the software had a beginner mode, where I could have a couple choices as to the type of recording I was importing. Instead, I had to play with the different settings to get good quality that didn't produce too large of a file.
However, once I get used to it, it's probably better to have more choices for customization and control.

My TAPE 2 PC USB cassette-MP3 converter has allowed me to expand my music library quite inexpensively.Since most music stores sell cassettes at $1.00,I have purchased the cassette of many of my favorite musicians to convert into MP3.I also use it to edit cassettes from live performances I have produced at the Museum of the City and from fabulous classical radio concerts.

This is the second ION conversion component I've purchased, the previous one being their LP2PC unit. Just like the turntable, their cassette tape conversion system works like a charm. All the music from those LPs and cassettes I've hoarded over the years is now being systematically converted to iTunes files. I love these guys!

I used this to start to transfer my large cassette collection to my computer(iMac). I didn't use the enclosed software, but instead used Ableton Live. I had no problem just hooking it up and going. The quality of the recording seemed fine, cassettes are just cassettes after all. The overall quality of the unit seems better than I expected in its price range. Hey, the heyday of the cassette is long since past.

I have an extensive cassette collection that I was hoping to convert to digital for my new ipod. The Ion Tape 2 PC sounded like the answer to my needs, and a way to save quite a bit of money by transferring my original tapes.However, it didn't deliver what it promised. The conversion process was tedious = each track must be played individually - no high speed dubbing. I'd had been willing to spend the time if the sound quality after conversion was acceptable. However, the songs once converted, to the ipod format were absolutely terrible. I called B&H to return the product the next day.I've dealt with B&H for over 20 years and I believe this is the first product I've ever had to return to them. [...]
