Bought this to fill the 4th hard drive slot in my 8 core Mac Pro, bringing the total capacity to 4 TB. Used for accessing a feature films' worth of HD video files via FCP for editing.
In the interest of maximizing performance. I sought out at first to find out if the drives Apple sells on their website are superior. Talked to a tech at Apple only to find out they outsource their manufacturing to the large hard drive makers. The three I bought from them all happened to be Western Digital. I went with Seagate because of the price, and so far it's working perfectly. My only regret is that I paid such a high price for the 2nd and 3rd slot drives when buying the Mac Pro. Next time I'd get all but the primary drive from B&H.
Note that to install this you need a phillips head #1 screwdriver. One is not included with the drive.

This capacity drive is a long overdue purchase for my digital content creation. I use it solely for image, sound or video files and pair it with an 1Tb external HD for backup. I can't tell that its particularly fast, but I don't know whether its the Adobe programs or the hard drive access.

Comments about Seagate 1TB Barracuda SATA Hard Drive:
Great performance. Go it for VST/Music/etc.. libraries and portability was a must. Have a 2.5"/3.5" USB 3.0 hard drive docking device as the laptop came with USB3 and decided to get the WD USB3.0 PCIe with this HD.
So far it outperforms 2 other hard drives in the main system. Quickacccess test read/write for the main hard drive was 134Mb/s, 2nd HD 65-69Mb/s, 3rd HD around the same, 4th HD (This one with USB 3.0) 98-105Mb/s. Not bad at all. Win 7 recognizes the docking device immediately so there is no waiting.
B&H photo as always, great super fast service. thanks!

This hard drive is significantly faster than the stock Western Digital hard drive that just crashed in my one year old VAIO. Seems like a great improvement!

I installed this in my 2009 Mac Pro and I love it. I have all my data on this drive and the OS/Apps on the boot drive. Much better performance that way.
The install could not have been easier. No wires or power supplies. Plug and play. The drive is fast and quiet, just like the WD drive that came with the Mac. For the price, it was a no-brainer.
You can bet I'll be filling the other two bays with these soon.

This drive helps me utilize Adobe Photoshop CS5, and, especially, Adobe Bridge, more efficiently.
I partitioned the drive into three sectors, one of which is dedicated as a scratch disk for Photoshop work, greatly enhancing the speed of that software.
The drive was easy to install. I used Windows7 software to format/partition the drive, foregoing using the Seagate software; thus I can't comment on that.
No problems to report. It simply works as advertised.

Comments about Seagate 1TB Barracuda SATA Hard Drive:
I needed to update the capacity of my Drobo and found this deal [@] While I only needed the bare drive (not the kit), the price was right [...] I am a big fan of Seagate Barracuda drives and this one does not disappoint. It's fast, quiet, and does everything I need for my high resolution images and video storage. I have nearly a dozen of these, in various versions/capacities, from the last few years and I cannot recommend them highly enough for this type of storage and backup.
