The LensCoat BeamerKeeper is a neoprene bag fitted to organize, protect, and carry your Better Beamer Flash Extender. It allows you to store your collapsed Better Beamer flash arms and fresnel lens in this protective pouch during travel and also during transport in to the field. A 1" belt loop allows you to connect the BeamerKeeper to your belt or to a belt system, and the bag also includes a heavy duty snap hood to clip onto your belt, jacket, or camera bag.
This version comes in a matte all-black finish to better blend in where desirable. Or, it can be used just for its protection value.

The addition of NIKON's new SB-900 speed light was a welcome addition to my lighting kit however I quickly noticed that the flash head was larger and my SB-800's Better Beamer would not fit well. The new FX6 Better Beamer functions like the old unit and the redesigned side plates fit the larger head of the SB-900 correctly. When used with a longer telephoto, I use it with the 200-400mm f4.0 as well as the 500mm f4.0P Nikkor lenses, the Better Beamer focuses your flash to better match the narrow angle of the telephoto lens. The improved beam shaping of the SB-900 strobe allow coverage for focal lengths up to 200mm on an FX body and the Better Beamer allows for coverage on longer focal lengths. My usage is primarily to add a catch light in the eye and balance out contrasty lighting conditions on distant wildlife. The downside is it is bulky to cary and does not include a good case option. Also when assembled it is prone to being knocked around as it adds considerable bulk to an already large flash unit. But the benefits outweigh the negatives.

I use this with my Canon Speedlite 430 EX II that I purchased at the same time, not realizing that the flash comes with a hard case. It has a loop for hanging on your belt for easy access, and a clip to clip to your gadget bag. I am not sure how protective it is when hung from the gadget bag, as I found it swings easily causing it to hit things. It is best to have it clipped to your belt for easy access and for safety for your flash. It is a soft pouch, and not hard, although somewhat padded, yet well constructed.

It keeps the flash beamer in place but it is not strong enough, it needs a hard case for the lens

I purchased a Better Beamer and this at the same time and I am very glad I did. The Beamer works great, but it is somewhat fragile. This bag makes a world of difference to keeping it safe and secure.

The better beamer fits fine in this case. The outside loop means you can attach it to your bag strap (leaving more room inside your bag).

Comments about LensCoat BeamerKeeper Pouch for Better Beamer - Black:
The BeamerKeeper is a great idea for keeping the parts easily accessible and in one place. I've been concerned about scratching the lens and now, it is nicely protected in the same keeper as the frame. The product is nicely made and attaches to a belt loop or camera strap for portability.

Got to pack the BB somehow. A little inconvenient with the velcro catching on the neoprene. The hook is not very useful either. It does however keep it all together and protected.
