I've had the Console RMX for about 6 weeks. It is well-built and feels like it can take some abuse without doing much harm. Also comes with a nice carrying case to make transportation easy between gigs. Needs no external power, USB is all you need. Be warned, however, the Virtual DJ edition which comes with the product is NOT full product. It gives you the option to try the full edition for 20 days. Once you see what you are missing, it's hard to go back to the basic edition, so expect to spend another $150 or so for an upgrade to the features you really want. After all, you didn't buy the Console RMX to just get basic performance. If that's all you needed, you would be looking at one of the Numark controls for $99.
Right out of the box, I did have problems getting the software to work. I am on a Mac platform, and kept getting an "Error in the sound card" message, and the software simply would not play using the RMX controls or the on-screen controls. After about 5 hours of research online, I found the fix both issues. After purchasing the upgrade last week, I ran into more problems. The sound card error came back, and also new error (I forgot what it said) but I had to contact Virtual DJ support. Hold time for them was about 15 mins, but the rep was clearly knowledgable, and instantly told me the solution. Apparently, the upgrade causes 2 separate but conflicting editions to be installed. The solution was to delete 2 items in the library (Mac) then re-install VDJ. If you are not tech savy, they do have the abilty to remote login into your computer if needed (at least that's what he told me), but I'm a bit apprehensive about that. Despite the challenges, I am satisfied with the product, and the support from VDJ (which is not affiliated with this seller), and I have no complaints about B&H either. They had this in stock, and at slightly lower price while several other places had it on backorder. My order was shipped in 24 hours. I will shop with B&H again.

- No Knobs for use with Effects
- Not all buttons are with LEDs
(You will need to look at laptop screen to check if a button is pressed or not)

Comments about Hercules DJ Console RMX - USB DJ Control Surface and Virtual DJ 5 DJC Edition:
I've been DJing for years using two turntables and a 4 channel mixer hooked up to Serato. Well after playing wiith friends' controllers I settled on getting the RMX for someone looking to get into DJing.
After unboxing it and setting it up for them and playing with it a bit I honestly would not hesitate to go out and buy this for myself. With DJing nothing good comes cheap, but this is an exception! The price is right for such a STURDY and well laid out controller with a built in audio interface.
I'm kind of jealous to be honest. Would definitely buy again.
If you're looking to get into DJing, you can't go wrong with this.

Use the Hercules RMX controller for DJing all my events now. Made the conversion from a traditional mixer/cd player to MP3/computer very easy. Virtual DJ easy to work with but upgraded software to give me what I needed. Upgrade very easy as well. Highly recommend this to other DJs looking to convert without loosing the personal touch.

Great for beginner djs. Simple but key functions and buttons, easy to install, and quick to learn. The software does not demand much from your computer and you can run it on virtually any system. It really only takes a few days of practice with this machine before you know the basics and can start dj'ing for your friends. Great tool!

Comments about Hercules DJ Console RMX - USB DJ Control Surface and Virtual DJ 5 DJC Edition:
The good stuff:
-lightweight, excellent for the mobile DJ
-software is intuitive and easy to figure out (didn't have to read any manuals)
-you can assign effects and sampled sounds to different buttons
-price is competitive
-allows you to play MP3s instead of having to carry around heavy record cases or CDs
-comes with a carrying case
The not so good stuff:
-soundcard could be better, it's not as good as my computer's Soundblaster Audigy II
-software can be a bit glitchy sometimes
-doesn't come with the full software version. To get additional features like custom speaker setup, you have to purchase the professional version of the software
-has 2 sets of left/right 1/8" RCA outputs, but one of the sets plays only what you hear in the headphones. It doesn't give you the option to switch the second output to the master.
-not ideal for scratching

I've used the Hercules DJ Console RMX for almost 2 years. It is one of the best controllers you can buy and it's inexpensive. It is easy to set up and use. The only drawback is that it doesn't have effects control knobs, but for basic mixing it is awesome. Hope Hercules updates this controller for 2011. Would like to see Balanced outputs, USB 3, actual effects controls and touch sentive jog wheels. Also paired with Traktor would be a plus.

Just started a new hobby in DJing with VDJ & a Macbook Pro. Set-up was effortless and a breeze. Very solid, professional looking piece of hardware and not overly complex. Definitely recommend for Mac DJ's. Do NOT recommend for PC users - very hard to configure for Windows 7.

I love the all aluminium design, feels solid. The sound quality is great, signal to noise ratio is excellent. The bundled software is a bit outdated, but i got a huge[$] discount on latest version using the RMX serial#. Only gripe i have is very very loud popping sounds when unit is turned on /off

Comments about Hercules DJ Console RMX - USB DJ Control Surface and Virtual DJ 5 DJC Edition:
I received this product quickly and at a better price than anywhere on the net. I bought this unit so I could continue leaning to Dj with out having to wait to spend the thousands for a professional system. I have used a Dual CDJ systems previously.I found my self relying too heavily on the sound waves passing by to match beats. I wish there was a way to disable this function so that you can train your ear to match beats. If you stepped on to a system that does not have this(say cdj's w/out sound wave info)you would be screwed. I cut a cover made of thick paper to place over the top of the screen that covers the sound wave file and practice like that. Problem solved. I have found that what the computer finds is beat matched is not always matched correctly so beat matching by ear is a good skill to have in these cases. The build quality of this unit seems really good. The unit comes with a carrying case. The push buttons are a bit small and crowded, they could be bigger but they do the trick and keep this unit "portable". This unit would be a great unit to take to event that is dusty or where getting you gear damaged or stolen is a real possibility. At this price point it could be seen as a "disposable" unit compared to taking a $1800 CDJ to BurningMan to have it filled with the finest of talcum powder sand or Mexico to have it "commandeered" by a local policeman. The tempo sliders are VERY sensitive I'm looking to see if this can be adjusted.Sound quality is good as I can tell. I have been practicing in my home and not on a very good set of speakers. This would be better reviewed by someone who can properly compare a few systems to compare against. There are good controls for gain (again very sensitive) and volume. There are also a lots of ways to output the sound which is very convenient. The jog wheels do the trick. I don't scratch so I wont go into if these are worth a darn for that or not.The Software would have to be the weakest link in this unit. I'm still learning it but I find it chinsy. It feels like an after thought. I did the 20day upgrade and found that it's not that much better than the free version. I will probably go with another software altogether and map it to this controller. The effects buttons/function are lame you need to hold down the effect button and manipulate the effect on the Jog wheel. If you let go of the button prematurely while your hand is still on the jog wheel you could screw up your mix. On the upgrade version you have no way of knowing which EQ cutoff button is enabled or not. You could've cut the mid's and not know it. The free version has a "LED" on the screen that tells you that the cutoff button is activated. I have had this system for about 2 weeks now and I have had 1 crash when using the beat effect on a song the whole thing froze up with a very loud buzz and needed to be forced quit, to stop it. Had that been live it would have been a disaster. Hope that's not a sign of things to come. Overall a good unit at an amazing price point well worth the money as a back up system to your existing setup, or for learning to DJ with out spending big $$ on a pro club system.

Great product! I DJ small gigs and this console helped me reduce what I have to carry from gig to gig. I've researched around and one of the biggest complaints is that the button seem too plasticky. It is plastic, but it is not that cheap plastic "feel" like it would fall apart after a few "mashings." Give this product a try. I hope you will enjoy as I am right now.

Comments about Hercules DJ Console RMX - USB DJ Control Surface and Virtual DJ 5 DJC Edition:
This unit is built well and is laid out with more room and better placement than other controllers in this price range. All faders, knobs, and buttons send common MIDI CC signals, so the RMX can be set up to work with any MIDI-capable host. The audio inputs are a nice feature, so that turntables or CD decks can be used alongside digital formats. The headphone jack is loud enough for most booths, but some extra volume would be better. Highly recommended.
