SkyMasters are economically-priced large aperture offerings from Celestron. They're great for both astronomy or long-range terrestrial observing.

High-powered binoculars are difficult to hold steady by hand; a monopod (and a tripod adapter if not included with the binocular) with an incorporated fluid pan/tilt head or with such a head attached between the monopod and the binocular is highly recommended.

Multicoated lenses

Comments about Celestron 20-100x70 SkyMaster Binocular:

I did expect its weight but not the size of this product. I install it on my camera tripod, due to its weight and high power, I believe that tripod is a must for this binocular. I set it in my room face to a river, then I can identify the type of the birds on the opposite bank almost two thousand meters away, and during the night I use it to watch the sky. When I watch the moon, I can clearly see the lunar disks as if were just before me, when I target it to Jupiter, I can easily find its four big moons. The eyepieces are comfortable even when I wear my glasses. It is easy to make focus when start from low power zoom. It came with a bag and belt, but considering the size and weight, it is not very best for travel.

Comments about Celestron 20-100x70 SkyMaster Binocular:

Got it out of the box, removed the lens covers to check the optics. Lens quality and coating looked OK but the construction and body had a cheap look. I tried multiple times to focus on close or far objects, but no success. It just made me dizzy and could not get a single sharp image. Using only one eye at a time I was able to adjust the focus and I got sharp images but this is suppose to be a Binocular not a Spotting scope. Clearly it had problems with collimation. I used a tripod and tried the entire zoom range from 20x to 100x. Again, I had the same problem with collimation being off. I gave it another try, on a clear night, and I could clearly see 2 stars instead of one which never overlapped. Checked the manual included and Celestron has a "NOTE on Collimation / Alignment of Optics: With high powers (15x or greater), the collimation may be slightly off and this is normal as exactness of collimation is made more difficult due to high powers." Definitely this is not a SkyMaster. I will return it. You get what you paid for.

Comments about Celestron 20-100x70 SkyMaster Binocular:

Others seem to be much luckier than I was. I tried them out with a tripod, but the collimation was so far off it made me physically ill to look through them for 5 minutes! All I can say is you get what you pay for. I promptly returned them to B & H and bought a Celestron Ultima 80 ED spotting scope.

Comments about Celestron 20-100x70 SkyMaster Binocular:

I mounted the binoculars on a tripod to try them out. I was trying to get them focused, but they made me dizzy and nauseous after looking through them for only 5 minutes! I waited a couple hours and tried with an object further away, but it made me sick again.

I've never had this happen using other binoculars or spotting scopes. All I can compare it to is a bad pair of glasses that aren't the right prescription for you. I'm going to return them immediately.
