I would give it zero stars if I could.
The 1/4" part broke while screwing it into a manfrotto superclamp. Excellent luck that it didn't break with my camera mounted on. The thread part is logged in my superclamp thus rendering the clamp useless as well.
I use it for timelapses, it it would have broken during a timelapse it would have dropped a camera & lens on 20 feet on the heads of 9 year old kids, 100% certainty of killing a kid.
Read again: I would have been responsible for the death of an 9 years old kid!

Beyond worthless, it is criminal.

Broke mine before my first shot! The stupid thing should be made out of steel, not brass. The 1/4 inch threaded stud just snapped right off. You just don't put a 1/4 inch stud on a 3/4 inch barrel, made from brass, and expect it to not snap. Why did I buy this [*] ? Why does every Manfrotto product I own wind up breaking or losing pieces?

It is just normal...

I got this one along with superclamp(without stud) + Friction arm+ manfrotto compact ball head with rc2.

It is a bit expensive combo, but great for my needs.

Good bit, but be sure it fits in your item before you buy it. The thick collar between the stud and the threaded parts is wide and I had to shave it down to get it to fit in the Photoflex mount.

Typical Manfrotto great quality. Solid. When used with my 035RL Superclamp it provides a flush mounting surface to the clamp body.

Another fantastic tool from Manfrotto! This thing is well built, solid, smooth acting and strong! I bought two of them. A touch that Manfrotto added that I like is a spring that keeps a small amount of tension on the mouth of the jaw to hold it in the open position. This makes sure the jaw is as far open as it can be as you screw it shut. No flopping around of parts while you're trying to tighten it. I also like that the wedge that comes with it for clamping onto flat surfaces has a place to attach to the clamp when not in use. No fear of losing the small parts in the bottom of the gear bag. It's also worth mentioning that the wedge has a couple of locating pegs that fit tight in the jaw of the clamp so it doesn't move or fall out while you're tightening things up. The standard stud that comes with this clamp sticks out a little over an inch when seated all the way in so there is some clearance between whatever you screw onto the 1/4-20 thread portion and the body of the clamp itself. You can purchase another stud that makes things mounted to the clamp flush with the body of the clamp if you're in a tight spot. (Manfrotto 037 Reversible Short Stud, with 3/8" & 1/4"-20 Threads) The stud anchors into its receptacle solidly when tightened in place and doesn't move at all. No slop in the system. I currently have it holding my Pocketwizard Flex TTL5 onto the light stand that supports my monolight. This worked out well for me because I hate putting velcro on my equipment or having things swinging from straps or strings. Rather than buying the dedicated part to hold the PW I now have a tool that will do the job and perform others when not being used for this. Other uses I have for it include mounting my ball head to a manfrotto plate (Manfrotto 208HEX Head Mounting Plate with Hex Stud - 3/8" Thread) and clamping the whole assembly to the edge of a coffee table for low shots. Lots of versatility with these accessories.

We used this stud to connect a clamp and tripod head for several outdoor cameras. One of the studs snapped where the "screw" portion meets the "nut" area.

A better design on the clamp may have prevented this snap.

Allows use of ball heads with either 1/4" or 3/8" threads on Manfrotto clamp. Clamp and stud have solid construction.

If you're looking to use this with the Manfrotto swivel adaptor, forget it. It wont fit. Instead of simply rounding the edges, it is shaped like a hexagon and that prevents it from slipping nicely inside the adaptor. Not sure what this one is used for exactly.
