Cons:
- You need a set of pliers and force to open one of the links, feed it through and close it again
- The links are the wrong size! How can that be if they are manufactured specifically for this expan drive?? And yet they jump off teeth because they cannot hook.

Lame beyond belief, the plastic chain might break but it will work before it breaks while this chain will NEVER work.

Apparently, the Expan drive did not have a chain guard in earlier designs. But the current one does. Therefore, the chain must be discontinuous in order to feed to through the gear. But the metal chain is a loop. So unless I'm unaware of something, the metal chain must be disconnected to feed it through the gear, then reconnected.

It's irritating because there are no instructions and you aren't warned of any issues. If some knowledgeable sole is reading this, how do you installed this thing on an Expan Drive with a chain guard??

If you are buying the Bogen Expan System you definitely want to purchase these metal chains, because the plastic ones WILL break especially if you have heavier backdrops.
