The Manfrotto Alu-Core allows you to use the Expan system with uncored paper or cloth backgrounds. It consists of two aluminum sections which interlock by means of a joining casting. The Expans (available separately) are inserted into the Alu-Core and provide a core for background rolls.
This Alu-Core is 9' (2.7 m) long, when assembled. It replaces old catalog #2922.

Comments about Manfrotto 047-2 Alu-Core for Uncored Paper or Cloth - 9' (2.7 m):
The Alu-Core is needed for cored AND uncored paper when used with Bogen's paper hanging system. If you use cored paper without it, it will sag badly. The problem with this unit is that it does not fit snugly in the cardboard core and there is no really simple way to get the roll paper to attach to the aluminum. It could use some sort of tensioning device. Perhaps Manfrotto means for us to unroll the paper and roll it onto this thing? That seems a pain.

I use this core between two Manfrotto rollers for a green screen in my studio. The pieces fit well and it is very durable.
