The Manfrotto Alu-Core allows you to use the Expan system with uncored paper or cloth backgrounds. It consists of two aluminum sections which interlock by means of a joining casting. The Expans (available separately) are inserted into the Alu-Core and provide a core for background rolls.
This Alu-Core is 12' (3.6 m) long, when assembled. It replaces old catalog #2928.

We need a cross support pole that was strong and also could be made smaller to be portable. This fits the bill.

Does not fit tight where the poles join.
Could have a better way to join the two poles.

Comments about Manfrotto 047-3 Alu-Core for Uncored Paper or Cloth - 12' (3.6 m):
The 12' cores tend to sag in the middle which causes wrinkles in muslins. There is a PVC pipe that you can slip over the cores that greatly helps.Small countersunk screws keep the pipe from slipping.
