While there may not be a great deal to say about a threaded adapter, at least I can say it works well. I record live music and most of the stands I use have a 3/8ths thread to which I attach a 5/8ths adapter. Occasionally I use a stand or have a tread that has the 1/4 inch adapter. This item allows me to easily convert to 3/8ths and keep everything consistent. That way most of my 5/8th items already have the 3/8th to 5/8th adapter attached, so I can easily put everything together the way I like it. The thread is designed to easily grip and while if tight I need pliers to twist, it is very easy to work with.

I have a combo stand that I often use to hold a microphone. I have two shock mounts for my mics, one which has a 1/4-20 thread pattern and one a 3/8". This adapter allows me to switch quickly between mounts. Best of all it stores in the 3/8" threaded hole on top of my Manfrotto tripod fluid head and so is always handy.

Really like the Manfrotto 1/4-20 female to 3/8" Male adapter. Very well made, heavy duty.

I use this to connect monitor arm which is 1/4-20 to my manfrotto 504 HD which is 3/8" tripod it work perfect.

Used the 088 thread adapter to mount a Velodyne SMS-1 calabration microphone (female 3/8") to a universal camera tripod (1/4" male). The adapter worked great.

I use this to mount a Zacuto arm directly to the head of a Manfrotto 504HD. It works just as it should. Quality is good and I really like the knurled texture.

it is always important to have buys well made adapters instead of cheap knock-offs, the threads on all camera equipment is usually industrial grade, you need to keep it that way, good price and reliability.

This part works well and is very well made - sturdy brass or brass-like material. The knurling helps with tightening and loosening the adapter.

One very minor issue is the same with most of Manfrotto's accessories, they don't like to clean their products. Consequently, the first thing you have to do with all of their products is de-grease them so this stuff doesn't get onto your nice clean (expensive) gear.

I recently bought a light stand and boom arm which i use when i dont have a boom mic operator. I affix my Rode mic to a rode PG-1 pistol grip which has a 3/8" thread. My boom arm however, didn't have a compatible thread so i needed this adapter to solve that problem. Now the PG-1 fits on the boom arm no problem and allows for a very professional boom mic setup via the lightstand. Plus for just like [$], not bad at all i'd say.

I bought this to attach a 701 Fluid Head, which has a 3/8 inch thread, to a 1/4 inch camera mount. It does the job of adapting a 3/8 inch thread to a 1/4 inch post, however, the head will not properly turn because it is basically just sitting on the post of the adapter. This results in the thread unscrewing when you try to pan the head, which is unacceptable. So, I rummaged around my tool boxes and found a rubber doughnut shaped something left over from who knows what, and used that to put over the post like a washer. I tightened that down and it was enough to engage the head to work as it should work, though still not 100%, but enough to work. I did a lot of researching and basically found that if I wanted to find a connector to mount a camcorder head with the 3/8 inch thread to a standard 1/4 inch camcorder mount--that allows it to work like it was on a regular tripod-- it does not exit.
I do not know what the intended use of this adapter is, but in my use, it seems like a well-crafted piece of hardware and it does the job.

Worked perfectly for attaching my Bogen/Manfrotto ballhead to my Slik tripod.
