Sony's step-up from the SR10 is the aptly named HDR-SR11 Hybrid HDD/Memory Stick High Definition 'PAL' Camcorder. This remarkable HD hybrid camcorder proves itself worthy with a 5.6Mp ClearVid CMOS image sensor that features Exmor technology and a BIONZ processor. Capture stunning video and 10.2Mp stills with this top-of-the-line sensor. The Exmor technology provides high resolution and high sensitivity for incredible detail and rich, natural color. The BIONZ image processor multi-tasks by reducing camera response time, eliminating noise from the image before it is converted in RAW and is the power behind the Dynamic Range Optimization process all while prolonging battery life.
The HDR-SR11 features hybrid recording to the 60GB hard drive and to Memory Stick PRO Duo and Memory Stick Duo media (sold separately). You can dub from the hard drive to the Memory Stick Media for easy transfer of video and stills to your PC or other compatible device. The roomy 3.2" wide touch panel XtraFine 1Mp LCD displays your images indoors or out with accuracy, giving you extraordinary recording and playback visibility. Rounding out the major features of the SR11 would be Face Detection technology, which ensures that all your favorite memories with family and friends will turn out clear and natural-looking every time, no surprises.

It's strange, I guess, that a professional videographer has bought one of these little cameras. It came about because I saw an underwater housing in a shop window. It was light and small, and perfect for on-board white-water rafting video capture - I just needed a camera to go into the housing. After looking at the small SONY range, this camera seemed logical to go with the PMW EX1 for cut-away shots of the on-board experience. After the hugely heavy Ikelite housing I bought for my SONY PD 170, this was a dream come true.
It's an awesome little camera. It has lots of lovely features (I'm blown away by the face recognition feature and wish that could be on all my other cameras) and it worked superbly in the underwater housing.
While I'd prefer it to be able to work in progressive mode rather than interlaced, I realise it is fantastic in so many other areas that this is a shortcoming which all the other features more than make for. It's got a fantastic lens, colour, low-light capability - and can be used in manual mode with the greatest of ease. I considered the 120Gb version but reckoned that the 60GB hard drive is more than adequate.
I use it in high-definition mode - HQ.
A note to MAC owners. This will download via iMovie to an Intel-based MAC. Do not mix up SD and HD on the camera's hard drive - if you do this will prevent footage from being downloaded and you will have to delete all your SD footage to be able to do the download. Work in HD HQ only as it is quite adequate and equates to HDV.

I have this camcorder only a week so be aware that I don't know it that much as a reviewer should. As far as I am familiar with it I am really happy with this piece of equipment. I wanted HD and it is, enough for the guy who just wants to record family events. One thing which I was concerned the most was quality of the recording in low light environment (since most of recordings I do are indoor). And I am really positively surprise. It is better tha I expected and better than my previous camcorder (ELURA 100) which was really one of the best in the price level.And os far that is it, first impression after a week - great

Hard Disc is great an lasts for a long time- you even do not need to take laptop on vacations to import your movies - you can do it when you are back home. You need to get additional battery as the one in the set lasts for less then 1 hour
