I purchased this adapter for the sole purpose of powering my Canon XSi for extended periods for time lapse photography. Much better alternative than charging and swapping between 2 batteries, especially for the cost if you don't already have a backup battery for time lapse shooting.

Length of the power cord is pretty long and I've not yet needed an extension. I also like the downsize in cord size from the transformer. That said, transformer seems really large for the application and is in the middle of the line, where one cable goes to camera, the other end to teh outlet. Would prefer a much longer cable going from transformer to camera, and a shorter one from transformer to AC outlet.

Overall, product does what I require, just being picky on transformer size and placement.

I don't like to run out of batteries when you're doing exposures on astrophotographies. This AC adapter kit by Canon is a life saver for your camera and your exposure timings otherwise you'll end with worrysome batteries meter readings to be sure you're OK or not.

I use this product for when I am doing an indoor timelapse with my Rebel XT with my Pclix intervalometer, rather than have to monitor and swap out batteries.

Note that you will need a different product based on your camera model, because part of the adapter is a "dummy battery" that goes into your camera's battery slot. Please check the item description carefully to make sure that you're ordering the one with the right connection!

This is an A/C adapter for certain Canon cameras. It does not hold a charge. Ideally, it helps for folks who take long setup times, like myself. It fits like the normal battery does only it has the A/C hookup on the side. My camera has a rubber piece on the side which pulls out to accomodate the cord, allowing the battery cover to snap fully closed. Also, the cord has a plastic snap piece which allows you to take up extra slack when needed.

Does exactly what it's supposed to do: provides handy continuous power for the camera while doing lengthy setup shots, studio work or while connected to a computer. Eliminates the need to worry about battery charge level during longer sessions. My only complaint is with the "dual cord" arrangement. Rather than the rather heavy AC cord, I would rather have a "wall-wart" supply with a built-in AC plug, coupled with a longer (or extendable) DC cord to the camera. Having two cords with a "blob" in the middle creates a bit more tangle than seems necessary.

I bought this for my new Rebel T1i which I use for a small table-top studio for macrophotography of museum specimens. This works great and is very useful so I can leave the camera turned on for long periods of time. It replaces the battery (so, you can recharge your battery while using the camera in the studio).

I've tried three of the plastic DC Couplers (DR-E5 -- the device that couples the power pack to the camera) and none of them will reliably power my XSi. The contacts in the DR-E5 appear to be poorly engineered. I sent a drawing of the problem to Canon (through my dealer). No response. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!

The only issue I have is it's 2 cords that plug into each other and then into the camera. There's a "box" in the middle of one cord that easily tangles them up, but other than that no problems.
