This case is of decent construction and provides good protection. But you should be aware that it's different from camera cases of film SLR where the bottom part is attached permanently (until changing film), and the front part is dropped for taking a picture and then snapped back on ("eveready" was the term). Because of the need to access practically every inch of this camera's body, it is not possible to have any part of the case permanently attached. So the whole thing must come off for each picture. Since I can't imagine taking it off and putting it back on frequently (like a lens cap), I expect it'll be used to provide protection during transportation, and stowed away when taking pictures.

Like the previous reviewer, I agree that every camera needs protection, and this one does its job. However, I wish that the basic design had been different so that a part of the camera case itself had a tripod screw built within to attach to the tripod mount on the camera itself, as the old film SLR camera cases used to be. When you open the case to take a picture, either it falls to the ground if you don't have the small loop strap on the case attached to the camera strap itself, or if the small loop strap is attached to the camera strap, the case gets in your way when you go to try to take a picture.

Nice looking case with good protection for camera. Unfortunately, there is no room to spare so with an added UV filter attached, it is a tight squeeze to get the cover closed.

This is an excellent case for when you don't want to carry around a big gadget bag. I bought it for my EOS Rebel T3i DSLR with an 18-55mm lens and it fits perfectly. goes on & off quickly with just one velcro strip, hangs on the camera strap and allows access to all camera controls. Great protection for when your walking around looking like a tourist!

Protects my camera when I am throwing it in a carry bag although I wouldn't use it by itself for protection. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is that I can't fit it in the case with a lens hood attached.

The case snaps right around the camera, allowing me to hike with it with less concern about breaking the camera. The case is easy on easy off. I like that you wrap the camera straps , bit straps attached to the case. I think that makes the camera safer when on my shoulder

Use: Protect my camera while carrying it inside a lightly padded backpack, or small carry on. Also used to store camera at home when not in use.
Pros: Lightweight. The textured material makes it easy to hold on to. Enough padding for light jostles.
Cons: Can really only hold the camera + lens. No room for anything else. A bit expensive in comparison to other small cases.

What ever happened to the leather cases that had the one snap drop down so you could shoot quick when using the camera carrying case with the strap around the neck. The Canon Semi-Hard Case is not as good a protection against bumping into an object. Removing the rear of the case to pull the camera out to shoot is a pain. Unlike the leather case where it remained attached to the camera and out of the way when unsnapped and dropped down, the Canon case becomes separate from the camera. It is true that with the LCD screen it presents a new problem for designing a case but I think Cannon could do better.

I use it to store my camera in my backpack for school and it protects it well enough from other items in the bag. It fits snuggly and has a small clip that can hook the bag to the camera straps if you want to. there is a little too much room around the sides of the lens that I think could be shaved off to save some space, but other than that, everything I'd hoped it would be.

I had a Canon Elan 2E and I can't compare the Elan case with this new one. Very light, do not protect the camera. You can't use the case attached at the camera when you take photos. Realy disappointed.

I love this bag! It fits my Canon rebel perfectly. The best part is, you don't have to carry a bulky bag to keep your camera porotected. You can quickly open the case and be ready to take photos in an instant. The case can dangle from the strapwhile you shoot, so you don' thave to find a place to set it down, or have it swinging over your shoulder. It's light, protective and easy on, easy off.
