The 160GB G-DRIVE mini FireWire-400/USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive from G-Technology is a high-capacity portable hard drive that features a rotation speed of 5400rpm, as well as FireWire-400 and USB 2.0 connectivity.
The drive is housed in a durable titanium external casing that features fanless cooling. The drive features a portable design and form factor that will match your MacBook Pro perfectly. It features fanless cooling, and is perfectly suitable for Time Machine backups. It will also perform perfectly in imaging, video editing, or general storage applications.
- 160GB Capacity
- 160GB of capacity allows for storage of approximately 12 hours of uncompressed DV digital video, the equivalent of 34 4.7GB DVD video discs, or up to 40,000 MP3 files.
- SATA Drives
- G-Technology exclusively uses SATA drives with 8MB cache in their enclosures, leaving no doubt that you will be receiving a quality drive.
- Dual Interface
- The drive easily connects to any computer with a FireWire-400 or USB 2.0 interface; this makes it easy to add to a variety of laptops. The G-DRIVE mini also draws power from the data bus, eliminating the need for an AC adapter for power.
- Hot-Swappable

Nice, compact unit. Like the metal finish on it. Firewire - very nice! So far it's working great - have had the unit for about 3 weeks and am using it for a backup drive and to send files to editors. Copies files over quickly because of the firewire (had considered USB). It also comes with a slick leather pouch. And a friend of mine - very familiar with Macs said - oh yeah G-Drive - good unit. There you go!

At less than 9 oz and 500 GB of storage space this was the best solution for me to back up several high res digital art files. Love that it does not need an external power supply and fan-less cooling system. Can not beat this product for the price.

I've had three of these, the oldest one for 2 years now. I've never had a problem, and the new on off switch is kind of handy. I travel a lot, and the wear and tear hasn't had any negative effects yet...
